This doesn't surprise me. My wife (Chinese, doctor of traditional oriental medicine) was talking with a niece-in-law. I don't know why the question came up but something about orgasm--said niece-in-law had no concept that a woman could have an orgasm. This is a married and pregnant woman.


I hope they handle it more sanely than they did the sex culture museum that used to be in Shanghai ( http://www2.hu-berlin.de/sexology/CSM/english.htm ). It was actually rather interesting but very hard to find (not due to the language barrier, my wife is a native speaker). The problem was the government wouldn't let them put up a sign because of the word "sex". It was on the 8th floor, you had to enter via a side door with no markings. Is it any wonder they got few visitors and ended up moving? (Note: The museum isn't really very erotic but it is quite interesting if you ever find yourself nearby.)

China also has no problem with sex toys, but again, can't have that word "sex". I've found a small sex toy store inside a big place that sold medical stuff, as far as I can tell it was unmarked. (I don't read the language, but there was nothing that appeared to be a label.) No porn (it's not legal there) and no fetish stuff, but otherwise about what you would expect in the US.
