What would motivate the officer doing the briefing to lie? They had no part in doing the water boarding and in all likelihood didn't even know the names of hte officers who did.

If they didn't mention it during the briefing they were either told not not to by someone very high up in the agency or didn't know about it themself. They have professional insurance for this there would be no reason to lie.
