I hope we investigate and prosecute the person at the highest level who is responsible for torture and other war crimes.

And that person is obviously Nancy Pelosi.

Of course. That is why the right wing is focusing so much on her.

If the attorneys who suggested waterboarding are prosecuted, then surly the Congress who consented and financed the waterboarding should be prosecuted too.

Indeed. It obviously went no higher than her, so we should stop looking. For the good of us all.

Surly the Congress would be a great name for a rock band.

She's right. Definitely not a member of any intelligence committee.

It's not wise to pick a fight with the CIA Nancy.

Oh, and please STFU and DIAF, Thanks.

The torture started before the attorneys were asked for their legal opinion and before congress knew anything.

The Republican party advocated waterboarding people in an effort to prove a link between Iraq and 9/11 by any means possible. In fact, the GOP's promotion of brutal torture of muslims extended to sodomizing children in front of their mothers in an effort to extract information. Children.

Keep your eye on the real story. Nancy Pelosi is a red herring.

Republicans advocated RAPING CHILDREN.

and then of course the administration officials who approved and used torture to try and fing a justification for the Iraq war, they had all ready started.

I'm glad we are ll on the same page.

nancy is calling for investigations as well.

let's do this!

anyone got a transcript of this? What was her point, to confuse her opponents to death?

Torture is legal and saved lives, and Nancy Pelosi is evil for supporting it. Is that the GOP's line of the day?

This is all getting very strange.

All I know is, she is still calling for a "truth commission", so she must be fairly confident her shiat doesn't stink here.

She had better hope she has got a solid story.

Shryke 2009-05-15 02:21:03 PM
Chuck Wagon: Of course. That is why the right wing is focusing so much on her.

Uh, no. The right wing wants this to go away (just like your President does). It's a farking witch hunt. Had this stupid woman kept her mouth shut and/or simply admitted she knew and was told it was legal, this would have gone away. But she insisted on a presser so she could lie about it. And she continues to do so.

She is keeping this mess in the light, not the right wing. Christ, is anyone responsible for their own actions anymore?

lexslamman 2009-05-15 02:21:12 PM
Pelosi has also called for the CIA to release the transcript of the sole briefing she recieved that mentioned waterboarding. She's pretty much told her side of the story. The Republican party thinks there is more to this, but it appears to be a whole lot of nothing.

Which party was it that advocated torture?

ikanreed 2009-05-15 02:21:20 PM
I as a democrat don't mind holding Pelosi accountable for not putting forth appropriate effort in ethical review, that's her job and she didn't do it.

However that doesn't change the fact that this is a deflection tactic used by partisan idiots to distract from the primary issue.

We are already aware that there weren't enough people at all levels doing the ethical thing and standing up against this idea to say "We don't torture." The drive to fix this is to locate and hold responsible those who initiated this.

Again, as a frequently democratic voter, I think Pelosi(and others on the same committee) did not do their job. They should(but won't) be voted out of office. The people who put forth the idea of enhanced interogation should be arrested, tried, and as circumstances warrant, punished to the full potential of the law.

It would be so sweet if they really were all brought to justice over this, imagine a government that was afraid of the power of the people...

NPR had a story yesterday that mentioned a rising tide in Congress against such a commission - most of the Republicans already oppose one, and a lot of Democrats are raising objections, too. Just 'cause she says she wants one, it doesn't mean she believes one will happen.

Amazing how much clearer it becomes without your hack crap interpretation. Oh: that's a valid question, which she can't answer outside of lying.

Epic try, but you're wrong. I'll clarify:

The right supports these techniques.
The left does not.
The right is pointing out that a member of the left has allowed them to happen while supposedly being against them.

This is how the right can agree with the techniques used yet criticize the left at the same time.

Better?

Asshole, that's not what they said. They're out there running around asking why she didn't do anything to stop torture, and then claiming torture never happened in the next interview.

Fools like yourself love that shiat and eat it up. You can play both sides of the fence that way.

No - I've already decided she knew what was going on, and almost definitely inquired about more extreme measures. The evidence against her is not only titanic, it's growing.

Do you think I am upset she was for waterboarding? I am not. I am simply stating that she made a lot of hay out of this "torture" meme recently, and now it's time she paid the piper.
