Wrapped them in blankets? Like that's going to do anything.

She should have had some chubby kids lay on them instead.

Sounds like the person who left the pipe bombs for her was doing humanity a favor.

So, pipe bombs grow on the sidewalk out there?

/ or the terrorists have won?

Im sorry, but i laughed real hard at the thought of someone delivering a bomb they found straight to the police.

Its that kind of stupidity that continually quells any faith i have in humanity as a speciies.

And she is a bus driver to boot.

/Did she stay over 55mph when delivering them?

There's a glimmer of intelligence in wanting the police to know about the bombs, but to drive them in her herself...

No mention at all about WHY there were two pipe bombs in her driveway. WTF.

Ikahoshi 2009-05-10 07:25:16 PM
They were probably old pipes someone put out on the curb for the trash, considering no futher comment about the "bombs" were made.

In her case, the hamster in the wheel is probably dead.

zvoidx 2009-05-10 07:26:18 PM
I wonder what she thought would happen?!

Arrives at the police station...
Bus driver: "Here they are, inside the blanket..."
Officer: "Could you open up the blanket, so we can we verify the bombs?"
Bus Driver: "See? they're right here...I drove over as quick as I could!"
Officer: "Thank you, oh, thank you! We'll take it from here...Somebody really could of got hurt!"
Driver (to self): "I are so smart!"

If it were Boston she would have tried to deliver it by trolley but not made it because the trolley driver crashed while texting.

I swear to God almighty that I have never grammar nazied before, but I must say that if you type out the words "could of" instead of "could have", you're not really in a position to criticize the intelligence levels of others. I hope you understand. Thank you. That is all. Have a great day. Bye-bye now.

You equate misuse of insanely arbitrary rules of the English language with picking up a pipe bomb and putting it in a school bus?

You could of thought that out a little more.

Driving around with a couple of pipe bombs on the bus is probably less nerve wracking than driving a bus load of screaming kids.

You know what's even stupider than a bus driver finding pipe bombs in her driveway and trying to drive to the police station with them?

I'll tell you what's stupider. People who believe that whatever it was this stupid woman found in her driveway was actually pipe bombs.

Yes this does not seem smart of the watt bulb but I do not think we should throw the penalty at her yet because I can see two sides to this. The one side is the side of the people on the Fark.com that think she did the bad thing and I can see this side. This side says that the bus is not the safer place for the bombs to be because I sometimes ride the CATA bus and they can be bumpy but I mostly ride in the winter.

The other side of this says that she was doing the good thing because instead of trying to hide the bombs from the neighborhood she was trying to bring the bombs to the authorities in the city and these are the people who are trained with these. Maybe she should have called the police but maybe she should not have called the police. My professor once had to call the police because he could not find the keys to his car and the keys were in the car and the car was locked. It took the university police officers more than two hour to show up and in two hour the bombs might have been exploded. Maybe ms. watt bulb lives by slow police.

I do not know which side to judge this. I could maybe write about it in my blog one day if she does this again but it seem like the smaller issue.

Using a verb instead of a preposition where it is appropriate to do so is hardly arbitrary.

Police don't just rush to every call ASAP, they prioritize calls by the danger.
Lost keys = idiot misusing police resources, to be handled after a long lunch, and a couple dozen speeding tickets, and a coffee break. Your professor should consider himself lucky they came at all. If it were anyone but campus police, I suspect they would have came out, gave him a long lecture about the 911 system, then left him standing beside his locked car.
Bomb = imminent death possible.

When dealing with bombs, there's no such thing as "slow police". And as for other people finding it, that's why police usually evacuate the area prior to having the bomb squad come in.

I do not know the answer to this because we did not let all the judge do the vote. Let us do this.

If you think this person did right thing or wrong thing make your vote and I can count them so we can tell police.

Right thing-0
Wrong thing-0
Don't know-1

I do not want to be teh judge of this so I say I don't know.

Yes, let us do that. I shall check back later to the fark.com for results at a later time.

ilikeracecars: You equate misuse of insanely arbitrary rules of the English language with picking up a pipe bomb and putting it in a school bus?

Arbitrary rule of grammar are things like "don't split an infinitive."

Saying 'could of' instead of 'could've' shows that the person lfails to grasp the MEANING of what is being said.

'could've' is a contraction of 'could have' as in "I could have done that myself."

'could of' makes no sense. Of is a preposition... it communicates, among other things, spatial relations. Could is a modal used to modify verbs.

One can be a descriptivist grammarian, but the key to ANY form of grammar and language system is the idea of clear communication. 'could of' fails to deliver in that regard.

I had a different mental image upon hearing the story.

Bus Driver walks into police station and says I have some bombs in this blanket. Hail of gunfire. Headline the next day - "Police stop suicide bomb attack"

Yes I must grade the papers for the class that I am the professor assistant. They have the final examinations and need these grades. I will come back to count the voting from the judge after this. Thank you and good luck for your side of this issue of the woman and the bus and the bombs.

In what situation is picking up a bomb the "right thing"? In what situation is taking a device designed to kill dozens of people through heavily populated areas, and into a government building, the "right thing"?

I want to see the other side of this story you keep referring to, I can't figure out even one hypothetical situation where what she did would be acceptable.
