No, Bologna is selling for $3.50 a pound. Lobster is WHOLESALING for $3.75 on average. Business 101 for the win!

mythias2600 [TotalFark] 2009-05-10 02:29:48 PM
Hmm.. seems the price of lobster has risen. Back in December, the wholesale price was around $2.65/lb.

RodneyToady [TotalFark] 2009-05-10 02:31:06 PM
I think Bolgna might be some kind of knockoff bologna. Kinda like "malk."

Hot, like warm malk.

What a coincidence ... Red Lobster sells lobster that tastes exactly like bologna.

The latest craze for the status conscious diner:

Baloney wrapped lobster.

Mmmm baloney thermadore.

Tr0mBoNe [TotalFark] 2009-05-10 03:35:19 PM
That's $3.50 too much for sea spiders.

Let them eat steak.

oldernell [TotalFark] 2009-05-10 03:40:34 PM
Yeah, well, 3oz tails are $5 around here. I understand the price in the story is for whole lobsters, and I know there is freight involved, but I don't think the two would add up to an additional $20/lb. Someone's making some money.

chrisco123 [TotalFark] 2009-05-10 03:48:37 PM
I bought it for $8.50/lb yesterday. Delicious...

Talon: bolgna is disgusting.

Not really if you fry it first.

Terrx [TotalFark] 2009-05-10 04:43:26 PM
If you think about it bologna is nearly %100 edible by mass (if you consider bologna edible). On the other hand most of a lobster's mass is inedible.

Somaticasual [TotalFark] 2009-05-10 05:22:09 PM
I call bologna on this!

//another fine word that totally loses it's meaning when repeated.

Lobster is disgusting.

Whenever I think of lobster I think of the crayfish we had to dissect in biology class.

I can still smell the reek of formaldehyde.

/never hungry for lobster

Tapakip 2009-05-10 05:32:00 PM
All of you biatching about lobster being just a bug, who the fark cares? People eat bugs all the time. I don't care if something is a bug, a mammal, a fish, or anything else, as long as it's legal, safe, and delicious, I'll eat it.

Nothing wrong with eating mudbugs. Nice 6 inch crawdads from the Boise River. No I'm not going to share my location.

I'm eating a bologna sandwich, so I'm getting a kick out of these replies quite satisfied this meal was cheaper than a crackwhore.

Just ate at the Red Lobster today. The cost to add a lobster tail to a meal is $12.99.

/looks at photo

Lobster doesn't look delicious.

It just look like a giant version of those stinky, nasty little things we ripped apart in biology class. Yuck.

OscarTamerz 2009-05-10 05:50:03 PM
Well the price is right, now if they could just do something about the taste of the damned things. I guess if you consider that they live in the open sewer-graveyard that is the ocean floor eating whale shiat and the decaying corpses of whatever drops in for dinner then the taste of lobster and crab is a little more understandable.

Would you like some whine with that lobster... If you can't make a living depleting a natural resourse, then find another way to make that living. Consider making balona. nuff said

Man, every once in awhile I get some cheapo $1.50/lb chicken or turkey bologna from the store and eat sammichs with a side o ramen for a week or so.

I try to rotate/switch my meals up, but generally eat cheap :-D

One of my favorite is to buy all the ingredients to make subway style subs.
Bag of salad
Tomatos
Salsa/pepper relish
Cheese
Various meats and/or crab salad
and then 2 dozen 8" sub rolls.

Costs about $40 up front but then I can eat a sub or two every day for 2 weeks :-D

And while we're at it:

If by "delicious," you mean "I must lay my eggs in your entrails," then yes.

I remember when I was young there was a dock strike - Dad worked nearby and got several large lobsters every day from the boats. He took a picture of me obviously terrified holding a 7# lobster almost as big as I was.....
