TFA: ...in theory I could have been Mick Jagger. But I wouldn't have been Mick Jagger. This is what would have happened. Brian and I would have had a band. Mick and Keith would have started another band. And that band would have become the Rolling Stones.

I doubt it's possible to sum it up any better than that.

I came to post that exact quote

There is no rolling stones without Mick and Keith.

It's not as if Paul Jones got left behind by history. He became lead singer with Manfred Mann, one of the half-dozen most successful British groups of the 1960s, and stayed with them for over two years, singing on such hits as Doo Wah Diddy, Oh No Not My Baby and Pretty Flamingo.

"Pretty Flamingo" is a pretty damn awesome pop song. And the new stuff looks mighty interesting. Once I chase you all off my lawn I might go down to the record shoppe and give it a spin.

If he did join the Stones, millions of conversations about whether it was 'douche' or 'deuce' would have never taken place.

I recently added 'Oh No Not My Baby' to my iTunes.

I've never really liked the Rolling Stones. Some songs are okay, but altogether it's like "really guys? This is best cut you can make for this song?" Mostly it's Mick that disappoints me.

Yikes. Never thought I would see this here. The truth is the RS are really everyone - especially Keith - with Mick bringing up the rear.

But to each his/her own. Metallica sucks.

Mr. Jones sounds like he has a great life.
Good for him.
Seriously.

C'mon. That guy is skinny and has funny lips. Do you really think he could have been the lead singer for the Rolling Stones?

That wasn't Jones singing there.

And it was originally a Bruce Springsteen song.

Chris Thompson sang that song. And the original line is "cut loose like a deuce" although he sang "revved up like a deuce".

Funny, that song is Bruce Springsteen's only number 1 single as a songwriter.

Nope. 'Hungrey Heart' went to #1, too.

Oh, for the days when Springsteen was good...

COOL STORY: Joey Ramone asked Bruce to write the Ramones a song. He wrote Hungry Heart... his manager made him keep it.

Oh man-oh-man that would have been a much better song if played twice as fast in that sloppy-60's girl-group style!

damn you, trent steel! I wanted to post the pic of his raised eyebrow during the season 5 opener.

I can't blame this would-be Rolling Stoner, at the time I would've said the same damn thing.

Nope. I remember it being announced on the radio.

Coulda been locally, though; I will concede that much BUT NO MORE, DAMMIT!!!
