That seem like a very long time for a marathon. Did he get the last place in the race?

Good job, dude.

You raised $1.5 million while managing to cause $7.8 million in economic damage.

misterblint 2009-05-10 12:23:00 AM
This is a very cool story. I actually have a little something in my eye after reading this.

I would also like to hold this up as an example of why war sucks.

Cheers!

If only the rulers wouldn't send people to be horribly injured and killed in these needless (for us regular people) wars in the first place.

Well, then only 10 more left... one greenlight for every day this guy spent.

Man.

This guy keeps running marathons, you'd think he'd improve his time.

Would love to be there to salute him.

Think that's cool? Check out the Power Knee and the I-Limb. Neither are prototypes, but rather complete commercial products already on the market and in use by a few hundred people.

Why the fark is it that after someone gets handicapped they feel the need to do all these life-affirming events that involve movement?

Having bionics is better than natural human movement. Oscar Pisctorius is banned from competing in the Olympics (new window) with able-bodied athletes after doctors videotaped his running in slow motion and studied it. They found he used 25% less energy than human legs while using his curved metal legs.

Granted, i didn't RTFA and its probably a spinal wound instead of a double amputation.

Bring on the Singularity, I say.

I'm proud of what I accomplished this week

I don't think you have to be able to walk to finish in 13 days seems you could just as easily crawl it in that time. I'd call that a fail

wild9 2009-05-10 01:08:05 AM
I was able to barrel roll through the marathon in 64 hours.

That is very good. We should all be happy about the good things of this week. I am happy for writing one paper and studying for test. I am proud of you. I think other people will also be proud of you. What did all of you do this week that we should be proud of? Please share with me and with bobette and with the others.

I dunno some evolutionary trade off maybe, probably the same reason we have greeting cards and "chicken soup for the soul"

This last week on NPR they have been running a series in the evening about the China earthquake last year. They had one girl on who lost both her legs: she said when she grew up she wanted to be an engineer or a computer software designer because they don't need legs and sit in front of a computer all day.

I was like d'oh, she's right.

Yes, he is the role model you are very right. Thank you for telling me it was two weeks and for the correction. In two weeks I am happy for writing one paper and studying for a test and for helping my roommate with a project. This runner is the inspiration to me for my next week.

Now it is your turn Mr. chitownmike to tell what you did and we can be proud for you.
