Romney, you're suspect! Yeah, you! I don't know what your reputation is in this town, but after the shiat you tried to pull last year you can bet I'll be looking into you. Now the business we have, heretofore, you can speak with my aforementioned attorney. Good day, gentlemen; and until that day comes, keep your ear to the grindstone.

KA CHING!

I predicted this a while back, though I didn't know what state: Utah and Michigan didn't make sense, but he's useless in MA.

The article shows why NH makes sense, but he'll have to hustle if he wants to try (and fail again) at stopping same-sex marriage (which seemed to be his ONLY goal while pretending to be governor here).

Well if Senator Corker from Tennessee suddenly decides to join him, we've got a hilarious movie on our hands.

Well, that's pretty pathetic, even for Mittens.

NH is read because of the vast swaths of rural areas. Manchester and Nashua are pretty blue.

I'll never understand why anyone cares if two dudes or two ladies get married. It's mind boggling.

Headline should read, "Remember when Presidential Candidates used to live where they were happy? Not anymore... now they live where it helps their Presidential aspirations in the primaries."

Okay, maybe not, because that's kind of wordy. You get the idea though.

well...its also the senate race being 'colored'. the republican incumbent up for election (gregg) isn't running - the 66% R evaluation is based on his win in '04.

Romney's owned his NH home for over a decade. Now that he's selling a couple of his other homes, but not the family "vacation" home in NH, that means he's moving to NH?

He's said in interviews going back a year that the family has no need of all those extra houses, but the NH home is where the whole family traditionally gets away for vacations.

ExperianScaresCthulhu 2009-05-09 01:16:21 PM
It's too early for all this. Why does Romney want to be president so bad? What's he doing to fix the country instead of pad his resume?

Can I play?

TOS Spock = Sisko = TOS Kirk = Picard > Pike > movie Kirk > all Mirror Universe captains > Re-Kirk > Janeway > Archer (sorry, Sam) > Hazelwood > Quesada = Berman and Braga

Ok can anyone tell me what his platform is going to be in 2012? From what I read, he's not even trying to become politically relevant by being elected to office. To me it just seems like he his just going to go around bashing Obama and liberals till 2012 where he will run against a experienced president.

Pretty much. I bet he'll complain about dijon mustard and the Obamas being "elitist", too... despite being himself a multimillionaire businessman and scion of a prominent and highly well-connected political family.

But I think Romney's calculus goes like, "I have great hair and a politician's face, I was a governor, I know a lot about business, so I'm entitled to be President."

Not likely. There's zero political advantage to doing so.

Donald_McRonald: There's zero political advantage to doing so.

There's also zero political advantage to moving to New Hampshire. or Iowa, for that matter, or any state that has a primary early enough to be important on its own.

You see, people expect you to win your home state. They just expect it. That overrides the importance of the primary itself. So what would happen here is, for everybody else, New Hampshire is a freeroll. Everybody expects Romney to win it, so all you have to do is come in second.

But if you're Romney, now you damn well BETTER win New Hampshire. If you don't, it's pretty much game over. Momentum comes to a screeching halt. Media starts trying to hound you out of the race. All of the end-of-the-line stuff kicks into high gear immediately.

51 more electoral votes in CA isn't exactly "zero political advantage" in Romney choosing CA over NH. Add to that, the CA climate is far better for Mrs. Romney's medical condition.

If he did "move" to NH, then his wife would likely be spending 6 months of the year in CA- not exactly the family closeness they have always fostered.

NH voters have historically not fallen for this type of game. Given the last two elections, though, I wouldn't be surprised if it worked this time around. There is almost as much admiration for Mitt in NH as there is, mmm, "extreme dislike."

My guess is that to him married means "To have 10% the sex you had when you were single", gay dudes don't put up with that shiat and have sex just as often, after marriage, as they did before. Lesbians on the other hand, coined the term "bed-death", so he would be cool with allowing women to marry women (even the ones who don't look like mid-80s hockey stars), but letting two men would be an affront to his sexual self-image.

I don't care if it's two men or two women I just don't think the government should recognize marriage at all. But I guess I'm just a homophobic Libertarian from NH.

I think the word "Masshole" was invented for this exact scenario.
