real shaman: is such a clueless nitwit

I always wonder when reading your well thought out witty remarks, how do you do it?
You never cease to amaze me with your brilliant and snappy comebacks.

Keep up the good work you do representing your chosen political party. They will be sure to win many elections with you on their side.

Read his profile. It's always good for a laugh. Poor Shaman couldn't even fit in with the Dead Heads in high school. When you even get rejected by the pot heads, you're bound to grow up bitter.

Jimmy Carter put solar panels on the White House roof and Ronald Reagan had them removed.

Really? Wow, Reagan was more of a cock than I thought.

It's sad that anyone thinks that is why he called the press conference. But consider the source of the story....

experts tell us this made a big difference, which augurs well for next month's "National Wipe Your Butt Day." Next week, in a fireside chat, he'll tell us not to put a fork in the toaster.

I laughed.

Pretty much. Dubya reinstalled them though, so there's at least one good thing you can say about him.

Bill Maher's good for a laugh, and I like how he's not loyal to any candidate (though fiercely loyal to his ideas, and they're mainly liberal, of course).

This was obviously a piece written for TV that doesn't translate perfectly well, but I still thought it was a good read.

Uh, this is actually a far more liberal article, dude, if you read it. And you can poke fun at Obama and still be a liberal. I do it all the time. Loyalty is for ideas, not people.

This is why I hate Bill Mahr. Rather than criticize the people who clew the Swine Flu out of proportion, he criticizes the guy convincing people not to freak out because it's no big deal.

Even while doing so, he manages to FAIL hard. Egypt killed all of their pigs so that they can't get it, and China/Russia are banning North American pork products because they're afraid of catching it. Okay, yeah, it's probably a red herring for protectionism, but whatever. It still makes Bill Mahr look like an idiot for freaking out over American "nitwits" and/or pinheads because the president reassured people that there's nothing to panic over.

Man, if you think that was a right-wing rant, you must be to the left of Lenin and Stalin.

FTFA: "They want to make sure no one sells them bread made out of Chinese skulls."

And just how do you know I don't want bread made from Chinese skulls? Maybe I need more calcium in my diet. And it wouldn't hurt to thin their herd a little.

The reason why people get sick is because they wash their hands too frequently. How can you strengthen your immune system when it never has anything to fight?

The healthiest people are the ones who don't wash their hands.

"During the campaign, Obama suggested that one simple thing Americans could do to help with fuel-efficiency was check their car's tire pressure. And Republicans freaked, because to them, every suggestion for the common good is a direct attack on their personal liberty, and it's unpatriotic to interfere with anyone's God-given right to be big, dumb and selfish."

What every you guys think of the rest of the article, you have to admit, that part is spot-on.

When the President suggests things that will help the greater good, that's not a slight against your fragile manhood. I know, you're a rugged individualist. But you're not - you're just a schmuck.

I'd wager there's more to the story of Reagan having the solar panels removed than some comedian wants to delve into. You're in fact putting a couple of big old heavy wings up on the top of the roof, with pipes that are expanding and contracting all the time cutting through the roof material. The potential for shiat going terribly wrong is pretty high. I've seen a lot of panels installed on homes in the past thirty years. I've yet to see any that are still there 20 years later.

The low bidder on a government contract isn't always going to do the best of jobs.

/ used to be the low bidder on a lot of government contracts

Going back to Reagan, all of our leaders have predictably and reliably told us that government is always the problem, never you my precious, perfect American citizen. You are always perfect just the way you are, like a precious little snowflake. A beautiful, precious, 350-pound, pig-ignorant snowflake.

All that because Maher believes people we're upset by Obama suggesting they wash their hands? I don't recall hearing about any outrage by any other media.
Talk about a fragile little snowflake, cry me a river Maher.

Flustered? Hell no. I enjoy seeing the amateur historical revisionists frantically digging. Since they can't raise their 'own guy' up, they have to knock the 'other guy' down. The truth and logic be damned.

But I hope you intend to sign a contract to put some solar panels on your roof with some low bid contractor. Enjoy re-discovering the wheel, or the multitude of problems involved.

flannelled fool: I'd wager there's more to the story of Reagan having the solar panels removed than some comedian wants to delve into.

You'd lose that wager. I remember the situation quite clearly; Reagan explicitly wanted to make a statement about what he viewed as the "silliness" of pursuing alternate energy sources. He felt much the same way about energy conservation, too.

Even before he suffered from dementia in the clinical sense, Reagan was utterly demented in the lay sense.

eudemonist 2009-05-09 02:17:12 PM
I don't understand this article. Is Bill mocking Obama for making retardedly obvious statements like, "Washing your hands can help you not get the flu" or is he mocking Republicans for mocking Obama for making retardedly obvious statements like "Improperly inflated tires can decrease fuel economy"? Can someone explain this to me?

BMulligan: You'd lose that wager. I remember the situation quite clearly; Reagan explicitly wanted to make a statement about what he viewed as the "silliness" of pursuing alternate energy sources. He felt much the same way about energy conservation, too.

Oh come on. It's not like the federal budget for solar energy was slashed under Reagan or anything. And it's not like Reagan got rid of tax credits for solar panels in homes. And it's not like Reagan was all buddy-buddy with old-line energy interests.
