Good riddance, moran.

Sounds like a lot of "the dog ate my homework" in there.

Gwendolyn [TotalFark] 2009-05-08 05:25:38 PM
OK this is stupid. They talked to the proper people in NYC who didn't pass on the message. Air Force One was supposed to retake publicity photos anyway so the money was going to be spent no matter there the flyover was.

I realize this guy apparently didn't get a memo because he was out sick but this is a whole lot of outrage over something stupid.

Meh, big ado about nothing.

Halfmast Trousers [TotalFark] 2009-05-08 05:31:26 PM
It would take under an hour to make a remarkably real Photoshop of Air Force One flying past the Statue of Liberty.

The question I never hear answered is: Why, exactly, are we paying to "publicize" Air Force One?

But that would terrorize exactly nobody.

Say that to people that were there on 9/11. That being said, the dumbass fell on his sword like a good minion. Well done!!

Something tells me they'd be a LITTLE more frightened if it was a USAir plane, rather than the President's personal aircraft.

Heckuva job, Caldery.

farkMcFark 2009-05-08 05:42:36 PM
You'd think they would at least come away from this with a better photo.

Somebody in the White House actually took responsibility for something?

I do believe that's a change.

I'm sure they calmly grabbed binoculars & identified the markings on said aircraft, while disregarding F-16 following it.

New Yorkers are such pussies. What's the big deal with a plane flying over Manhattan? Like..what's the worst that could happen?

Impudent Domain 2009-05-08 05:45:24 PM
He vows not to pay taxes? Obviously looking for a better job in the administration.

But its still ok to take a publicity photo of a U-Haul truck, right?

gshepnyc 2009-05-08 05:47:13 PM
All things considered, what would have been wrong with creating this image on a computer in the first place? If the photo was the point and not the fly-over, and it was the fly-over that bothered people and cost 300,000 bucks, then why was this even done?

It can't count as any kind of journalism of the presidency as the president was not on board at the time -meaning it was the image itself and not the moment that image captured that was the intention. We all accept the plane and the City and the Statue exist and we accept that the plane COULD fly over as depicted, so what would be the problem with just shopping this thing?

As long as it's not speeding to the Courthouse in Oklahoma City followed by a sheriff's crown vic.

Apparently wingnuts made enough noise. Way to go.

Weaver95 [TotalFark] 2009-05-08 05:48:24 PM
A YouTube video showed people standing in a parking lot, watching the plane approach. As it nears, they begin to run. "Run, run!" said one person. "Oh my God," cried another.

But remember - we're not living in fear. we're safe, right?

New Yorkers shouldn't really have been worried anyway. As we all know, no planes struck the World Trade Center. They were holograms or missiles or something.

He left early a few days because of back spasms.

But this was planned for, what, a week and a half?

FTFA, he didn't read the email correspondence informing him of the plans until after it happened.

He should indeed be resigning. Not because of the fly-over, but because he's incompetent. What the hell else was he not informed about on time because he wasn't keeping up with important correspondence?

Harry S Truman: The Buck Stops Here

Barack H. Obama: The Buck Stops Here.

Including on those AIG bonuses. Except I didn't write those contracts and make this mess. But blame me.

And I'll take responsibility for this Air Force One photo op. Except it was some dumbass on our staff. But the buck stops here. Except it's his fault, and he's out.

Contrabulous Flabtraption 2009-05-08 05:51:27 PM
This whole situation is so incredibly stupid. The only thing stupider would be people getting angry over some beauty pageant contestant opposing gay marriage.

Arnold T Pants 2009-05-08 05:51:36 PM
I kinda feel bad for this guy. He sees the President and Congress waste trillions of dollars every year. Why should he think that wasting $300,000 is so wrong? Obviously the government doesn't give a shiat about how much anything costs, why should he?

We terrorized NYC and all we got was a lousy photo that is too dark and with reflections.

The photo shoot, which President Obama said he was "furious" with,

Furious? I've never seen the man more than irritated about anything.

/And whenever he looks irritated, it's at Biden.

Wingnut blogs say it was a joy ride for his daughters. It's despicable they're throwing this guy under a bus to placate teabaggers.

This whole event has further proved - as if there were any doubt - that the terrorists have won and that we are in fact a nation of cowards.

He looked a bit aggitated about the those greedy investors in the Chrysler bankruptcy deal.

Makes perfect sense to me. Allow a hired gun to take responsibility for the whole mess while the guy the plane belongs to makes mewling noises about how he didn't know. Perfect.

It's not as if the aircraft has a distinctive paint job that is iconic and visible from long distance or anything. No, nothing like that at all.

It's the partially unphased observation craft of the Reptilian overlords...keeping an eye on whatever their puppet administration is doing to destroy America...

In conjunction with the reverse vampires, of course.
