From what I can gather, Sean Hannity's voice sounds an awful lot like an obese womans fart.

They don't need federal endangered species protection. They're protected by sonic barrier.

Have to agree with this rule. Any legislation to fight global warming should be worded explicitly as such, and not backdoored in with conservationism.

In Bizarro-world, Raza Lasnek held a press conference today stating that the Obama Administration would allow federal agencies to use the Endangered Species Act to expand the power of the federal government to impose guidelines on factories, power plants, and automobiles and limit pollution emissions even though it happens hundreds or thousands of miles from the polar bears.

On Bizarro-Fark, Obama will be denounced for his roundabout way of expanding federal government control.

h8_u_2 2009-05-08 02:31:01 PM
as an environmentalist, it seems the best move to me.

Using the Endangered Species Act as a backdoor way to get what you want on greenhouse emissions is not the correct course of action, in my opinion.

I'm all for working the system, but not to such a degree. At a certain point you are negating the system.

Weaver95: I'm just lovin' all the change that's going on these days.

Kind of funny, given that the only reason Obama is ditching this rule is because he's going after a cap-and-trade system anyway. Yeah, that probably qualifies as change.

bulldg4life [TotalFark] 2009-05-08 02:34:09 PM
On Bizarro-Fark, Weaver95 is livid with how the Obama Administration is recklessly expanding federal government control to follow his pie in the sky perfect pollution-free world fantasies.

And their skin is actually black.
This further demonstrates the deep internal conflict Obama has over his mixed race heritage. His self-hatred has caused him to subconsciously seek to destroy the polar bear as it represents that exact struggle between black and white. I've heard his next target is the zebra.

Ya know what hits me as funny? It's pretty PC now-a-days to jump on the Darwin Evolution train, and to ridicule those who are not.

Here's the funny part.

They believe, and teach evolution, yet prevent it from taking it's natural course. The natural course of evolution is extinction, rebuilding. Ever so slowly mind you, but that's the course.

Stupid people. Say one thing, and prevent it at the same time.

Global warming is a joke, the planet will do what it wants. No person alive has proven it to me, because all they have is theory. To prove it, you'd need a virgin earth to compare to.

Like cig smoking. You can take 20 people, 10 smoke, 10 don't and compare and give stats that can be trusted.

No virgin earth to compare, so it's all who-ha theory.

Grand_Moff_Joseph 2009-05-08 02:49:26 PM
Maybe the Feds are right, and there are better ways to go about tackling this issue that doesn't involve the ESA.

But while they dawdle for months (likely years) on this, the ice will continue to melt, and more bears will lose their homes and food sources. Sure, the bear population may be up, but that won't be worth anything if all the ice melts!!

Mustang Driver 2009-05-08 02:49:40 PM
Let's see, 40 years ago we had 5,000. Today, we have 20,000. Yup, we are running out of polar bears. Yup.

Shaggy_C 2009-05-08 02:54:12 PM
I agree that using the Endangered Species act as a reason to cap carbon emissions is silly. Do polar bears even live anywhere in the United States? That doesn't, however, mean that we shouldn't be hurrying to put a cap and trade policy into place more quickly. Unfortunately, it needs to be done in conjunction with a re-evaluation of our 'free' trade policies without regard to environmental standards. And, well, that might be a little too much to ask of the neoliberal consensus.

But, humans are an integral part of any equation. We are part of nature, we are "natural." If we can stop species from becoming extinct, it's not interference, it's part of the "story."

I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species and I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment but you humans do not. You move to an area and you multiply and multiply until every natural resource is consumed and the only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet.

Or something. Scraping the bottom of the barrel when you recognize you're so unpopular you can compare other people to yourself as an epithet. Psychology probably has a word for that kind of dissonance.

h8_u_2: "Hey, I'm curious, what's your alternative plan?"

Even playing field. Otherwise, it's a joke and it won't reduce CO2 emissions at all.

Remember, too, that cap and trade will in effect be a regressive tax. The poor and lower middle class will feel the most pain.
