Via iGoogle, the French phrase translates literally as: "French immersion to create two levels of the school system for students."

I understand it, but I certainly wasn't part of any two-tier school system. Everyone in our school had the same access to French classes that everyone else had.

Someone smart let me know: Is there an extra pour in that sentence? Yeah, it's been about 15 years since I studied it, but it looks odd to me. I'm sure subby spent an hour making sure he/she got it right though.

If you're going to live in the Americas or Europe, you'd get more mileage out of Spanish than French.

Archfeld 2009-05-03 08:42:54 PM
of course they need 2 tiers, one for people who speak english and understand the basics hygiene and one for the 'gifted' speakers of french who don't...

Note : a previous quebec resident and card carrying French Canadian HATER.

PS : have they decided to round of Pi in the french immersion programs yet ?

French Immersion worked like a champ for me.

They dumped me in Paris Orly in summer of 1970 speaking not one word of French, but within 3 days I could order food in a restaurant, count money and cuss at people---the latter being very necessary because Parisians are notoriously rude, they would be offended if you didn't respond in kind.

Great place to visit---wouldn't want to live there all the time.

UrinalPooper: They found a system of public education that delivers the best experience for smart people who lack behavioral issues? And that's a PROBLEM?! Da fark..?

Some parents believe that their children are born exceptional. They give them "unique" names, so that universities and employers will be able to distinguish them from the commoners (while this is true, it tends to work in the opposite way that the parents intended). They play classical music for their children in order to nurture their advanced minds. They're not so much parents to their children as they are their best friends. The problem with programs such as this is that they tend to expose these children for the mediocre nothings that they are. So of course people are pissed off at this. "What do you mean!!?!?!? Kynydy is a genius!!! Discrimination!!! Discrimination!!!

/face it parents: your children aren't different from anyone else's
