Nice to see that SOMEONE takes bullying seriously.

Every time I find out about some kid with a list of classmates to kill, the psychotic bully is usually a priority target. Not justifying educating one's classmates on a primary use of element #82, but people snap for a reason. Kick a dog enough and he'll bite you.

it might, but then they might lay off him. there's always a bigger fish. Singapore is pretty successful when it comes to crime-fighting. apparently, beating the shiat out of people with a cane, and death penalty for drug offenses works.

Good for Singapore for not allowing the bullies' parents to file a class-action lawsuit against the school.

Angrier, sure... but what are they gonna do? If they'd been suspended, the violence might indeed escalate, but being whipped until you bleed with a cane pole tends to instill a deserved respect for the system and its rules.

Shymon: no hero tag for the principal?

Nope. Considering that students coming into the school are warned about the bullying group before the new student even takes a class, the pricipal should be caned as well for letting the group of bullies last for so long. If he was serious he could have some of the bullies transferred to another school if it was possible. Or just have a few of the kids expelled.

Cowkitchen2 2009-05-03 01:24:57 PM
Sounds reasonable to me. They already tried dealing with the boys in other ways, and it didn't work. Sometimes a beatdown is the only thing that gets the point across.

Can anyone advise how I can invest in the Singapore spanking fetish industry in about 10 years time?

I hereby call for unlimited H1B visa/work permits for anyone from Singapore with a background in education. America needs teachers, ya know, and here are some professionals with the right ideas on child rearin'.

If it really worked they'd never have to employ it.

Just imagine if they applied this in American schools. I bet you the amount of people going to prison would be a lot less. Sad as it is, IMO those kids who grow up without a father need some form of harsh discipline before they grow up to be hardened criminals.

So we should get rid of all criminal punishment since it hasn't eradicated all crime yet?

Yes, this is what I was advocating: total lawlessness. You figured it out nicely.

You young whippersnappers probably don't remember school paddlings but it used to be a legal and common form of punishment dished out by sadistic teachers who took pride in their homemade weapons of ass destruction and the pain they could inflict on children any time they felt like it.

Not surprising really, they have Friday afternoon hangings at the prisons in Singapore for serious offenders. Nice safe place to live as a result.

I had a teacher that carried around two hard sticks taped together to make it doubly thick so it wouldn't bend when he hit you with it. You did not forget your homework to days in a row for that class.

Whaddya mean? I advocate total lawlessness. What, is that a ridiculous position? OK then, how about we implant R/C bombs into the skull of every newborn. That soft spot is there for a reason! Imagine how the 'no crime' there would be if people could be exploded the second they step out of line.

You people are insane. Singapore is the most overreactive looney bin of a country ever. Their stances on just about everything are super extreme and way out of hand. Check out their drug laws sometime, especially if you're ever looking for a vacation spot.

Gish21 2009-05-03 02:13:10 PM
Singapore may be a bit savage at times, but it's pretty much the safest city in the world.

stephen74 2009-05-03 02:14:38 PM
Safest city in the world until you accidentally spit on the sidewalk. Hell, these are the same people that just started allowing chewing gum in the country like 5 years ago.

Too bad humans would still do things to cause their little mind bombs to go off. Damn psychological differences and imbalances, but I can see where the jump from a stick spanking to surgically implanted mind bombs could happen... damn slippery slope.

stephen74: Check out their drug laws sometime, especially if you're ever looking for a vacation spot.

Easy solution. Don't smuggle drugs in to Singapore.

If you can stop yourself from doing that, it's basically the most fun, safest, cleanest city in the world. I'll be buying an apartment there someday.

sorry but wish many big cities would cane gang members who break the law and the law would demand restitution over incarceration. 20 canings and 3X what the did.

Too bad we are too backwards and uncivilized to do caning here.

twfeline 2009-05-03 02:50:33 PM
I had a skinny buddy in HS with a big nose. The big class bully and his two followers used to taunt him in PE when the coach wasn't near. Then one day, while the coach was late coming out to the rollcall, the bully started in again, and my buddy decked him with one punch. Knocked him out cold. The coach came out, looked at the bully lying on the concrete, and put two and two together. Left him lying there to come around by himself and then told one of the hangers-on to help the guy stagger to the nurse's office.

The bully stayed a long ways away from my bud after that.

I'd say caning is pretty common in SEAsian schools. No one gets sued usually.

And as safe and clean as Singapore is, I don't like it there. Feels too artificial.

Kids in the UK used to get caned all the time, but not bare ass and also with a thinner stick.

If this was brought back, there would be NO misbehaving in class!
Thuggy Leroys wouldn't be able to sit for a farking WEEK!

I kind of like it. You damn well know the machines are going to try something like that before they enslave the human race and turn us into power cells. The simulation was conclusive, and the few escapees can be dangerous if they're not immediately dealt with.

The hacker community would shift to instead of figuring out how to copy games and DVDs, but how to crack the encryption on their head-bomb. Others will figure out how to remove it, then they'll get their ass to Mars.
