What poll are we taking about, here? "People who make middle-aged lesbians sexually excited" or something?

I just realized a couple of days ago that I haven't heard any screaming and gnashing of teeth about all the horrible things Clinton is doing as Sec. of State. Are Republicans saving that for later? Do they think she's doing a good job? It's all very confusing.

There's nothing to complain about so far. It's not that she's doing a good job or a bad job. What are we suppose to complain about... Her being average?

To a Republican, the State Department is vestigal so it doesn't matter either way how she does.

Funny, I thought Fark assured me that Clinton was a disastrous choice because she would usurp the Presidency of the good and honorable Barack H. Obama, upstaging and foiling him at every turn.

Well, they were right about her wreaking havoc at the Dem's convention after all.

From those poll numbers, which have to include some (R)'s no doubt, they must think she's doing okay. Actually, and of course I can't speak for all (R)'s, I don't think she was ever really hated. There was some respect, a little pity, a little concern that she was more than a little left of center. Then we got handed the inevitability of the steaming pile of John McCain and what the hell could we say?

Even the little screw-ups with the red button, I never for a second thought that was something she could be blamed for. But, it's still early.

Only %21 of the American public now identify themselves as Republicans, compared to about %34 who identify as Democrats.

The %29 who don't approve of Hillary's job performance are Republicans, and former Republicans (as are, for the most part, the %35 who don't approve of Obama's job performance).

They aren't WHARRGARBLING about Hillary because they're too busy WHARRGARBLING about everything Obama does.

The best part about the WHARRGARBILL is that I got it back as change from a guy who just assumed it was a 'Where's George?' bill.

GOP fails so hard, even their WHARRGARBL gets ignored most of the time. If I didn't have a finely honed lulz detector, it might have passed unnoticed.

Aside from the incident with the "overcharge" button, she hasn't done much worth comment on.

She's put in some long hours and has kept her mouth shut -- unlike Biden.

So what's to complain about?

She gave the 'button of fail' to Russia, and demonstrated levels or culpable ignorance of massive proportions when she didn't have even a remote understanding of cultural, historical, and religious significance of the Church of the Lady of Guadalupe.

This means she is fail, utterly and completely incapable of being a good S.O.S.

Oh really? You've got no problems with slamming Obama's foreign policy, but when it comes to his Secretary of State there's "nothing to complain about".

*shrug* Pres. Clinton is a pretty clueful guy, save in that one obvious personal weakness of his. He's smart enough to know that running his mouth, particularly in independent directions, doesn't help him, his wife, or his party.

Gosling: To a Republican, the State Department is vestigal so it doesn't matter either way how she does.

Arguably, it usually is. I recall hearing that its entire budget is lower than that of the Pentagon's publicity arm, for instance -- and I don't think people are expecting that a modern Secretary of State be as assertive in formulating policy as, say, Kissinger. People look to the President to determine what's to be done, and the SoS follows. And in this particular Secretary's case, she probably knows that her political future is *toast* if she's perceived as sinking the administration through excessive infighting or grandstanding on her on behalf, so if she still wants to be President some day she'll probably take that into account.

Let's be honest. The post of Secretary of State is pretty useless to people who divide the world into "enemies whose asses we kicked and who now like us", "enemies whose asses we are currently kicking" and "enemies whose asses we have not yet kicked."

I know there is lots of Hilary bashing here (and she deserves some of it herself) but she has so far done a good great job of SoS.

If she continues to do such a good job I imagine she will be top choice in 2016. As of now I don't think Biden would have much of a chance. He is too glib.
