Bionic Rock!!

New Age face transplant, if you will - would feature 250 suspended glass panels, an interior skywalk, and even a waterfall created from diverted rainwater.

So.. will the waterfall come out of the nostrils?

I heard they were going to try to rebuild them, same as with the Old Man. by matching the patterns of the rock to put it back together

No, since it's the building's only 'breathing' area, the waterfall will come out of the mouth, during short intervals.

from TFA: But that doesn't mean the locals are ready to let a flatlander replace him with a hugely costly monument to rival Mount Rushmore or St. Louis's Gateway Arch.

a friend of mine lived in Vermont for a while and laughed at people who called him a "flatlander". he's from northern CA well above most of VT or NH

It probably wouldn't work. There's still a bunch of jihad crazies out there that would just stroll out there with a few sticks of dynamite and make the big rocks into smaller rocks.

It's an old man, so a constant drool stream would make more sense. Put a projector screen across the way showing the hallmark channel 24/7 and the illusion will be complete.

As a neighbor to NH (20 minutes south of the border, hiked the mountain all the time when I was younger), I am totally against some buttmunch from New Jersey messing with the mountain. Nature made it, Nature destroyed it, end of story.

No mountain Robo-Man for yous.

New Hampshire is the lamest state in the USA. They adopted a craggy rock that looks sort of like a man's face if you look at it a certain way as their state symbol. No wonder some of them want a robot instead.

A) Where the hell would they get the money from? (Hint: the economy is in the shiatter, and I don't think NH is immune.)
and
B) Who's actually gonna come see this thing once it's no longer a novelty?

Move on folks. Even when it was there, the view on the state route signs was more impressive than the real thing. I mean, it was this tiny little cliff, wayyyyyyy the hell up the mountain....

Great ski hill, tho.

It's from TF2 (The Spy wears a ski mask, smokes cigarettes (but only 1 at a time), and says "Gentlemen.") and the Internet (probably 4chan, but I'm not sure).

Anyways, the old man was pretty much the only thing attracting people to the northern part of the state (other than Mt Washington). I can understand why people would want to rebuild the old man, but it's pretty silly. I say we should just make a cheap model with a historical marker at the side of the road by the mountain. It won't attract anybody, but hopefully we won't have to hear about people trying to get a replacement to put back up there.

What, are you trying to re-value your quarter?

Your state thought its most noteworthy feature was an oddly shaped crumbling rock. I'm sure all the contributions of New Hampshire citizens since the state's inception were nice and all, but still they're no match for a crumbling rock face.

Somebody went under a dock
And there they saw a rock
But it wasn't a rock...

It was a rock

Anyone not born in NH, ME or VT is considered a "flatlander" by "Townies" - made the very bad mistake of having married a "townie" - thank goodness that over, but now I live in NJ...sigh

\lived in NH since the age of 6 - was still considered a flatlander

Son, that would get you shot up here. And if you would RTFA, you'd see that it's not a very welcome idea at all. (Disregard the info about the tourist dollars dropping off in a recession...because it's a RECESSION, retards. Maybe hard-hitting journalism like that is why your paper is going under.)

Wrong_Intentions: A) Where the hell would they get the money from? (Hint: the economy is in the shiatter, and I don't think NH is immune.)

A) Believe it or not, thanks to the influx of Massholes who want to avoid paying taxes while still working in Mass. and basically treat the state like shiat, it's slowly turning blue up here. Funding is always an option.
B) There are much, much, MUCH lamer things to see in NH. And since it's in Franconia Notch, it would be seen no matter what you do.

\do agree with gregosaurus - you could probably hold a state quarter at arm's length from the viewing area and replicate it perfectly
\\not a resident, just visit here on an almost weekly basis
