See this thread. And my comments. Got one about her.

I shouldn't be proud of it, but when the news broke up here, in Italy, the local newspaper Corriere Della Sera, published a lot more phothos of the slut in their own website. They are gone now. Censorship? Dupe? Who cares? This is democracy 2.0.

To just about any woman, a 'minor' is any girl younger than herself.

I know lots of girls who chased after older men when they were 15,16 and 17. Now, they call men who go with those women 'disgusting'. Sorry, hon.

I said it before and I'll say it again: You want to stop misogyny, make your daughter date boys her own age until she leaves your house.

Don't follow, kids will be kids. That's why we have a minimum age. I won't debate the legitimacy of one single age, but I will say that when you're a politician and don't like the law, change it, don't be a hypocrite.

I don't get the more popular than Obama reference either. Obama's the head of state of a different country, he WOULD be less popular than the Italian head of state in Italy. Or am I missing something?

Careful! On many counts. Berlusconi and his junta have been chenging laws everytime he could: last but no least the "less-than-10-year" pardon. Besides, the US have always been a useful ally even for the left. You see, the left in Italy think -in its own idiocy- that Democrats in USA equals Left in Europe.

I've seen a very strong campaign in favor of democrafts, first with Kerry in 2004 then with Obama now. The fact is that your "left" is far to the right that our "left". There's little to compare politically, in both "pure" politically terms than "true" political ideas you populace think about. There's no politician without the folks consent, and your folks think very differetly than ours.

And about kids ... around here we try to respenct kids that apparently can manage in the presence of older people. If a 17yo can manage her own life and going to bed with Italy's most wealthy man ... more power to her.

A teenager may act like they know everything and behave like they're mature, but they don't and they're not.

An older man with a younger woman is one thing. An older man with a teenager pretty much just wants to pretend she's his daughter. Or in this case, possibly his granddaughter. 72 years old with an 17 year old? That's not a very pleasant mental image.

It might be if you were a 72 year old man.

I know that the mental image of me with a hot 17 year old girl will be pleasant until I'm too old to remember what to do with them.

All Apologies: What does it say about Italians that they keep re-electing this guy.

It always seem strange to outsiders why the "bad guys" keep getting in. Examples: Brian Mulroney (most hated PM in Canada's history) got re-elected, so did UK's Tony (head up Dubya's Rectum and fell for the lie of WMD in Iraq) Blair, and of course, Bush himself.

This usually comes down to the voter's perception that the opposition is even worse (or a very effective 'demonization of the opposition' campaign by the incumbent) and also voter apathy has a part.

That and Italian Politics is extremely fragmented, so 'deals with the devil' are made which give voices to the 'little guys' and keeps the ruling party in power.

He's gotten a lot of young women into politics, thus empowering them.
How about not being an ageist?
Or would you rather just personally orchestrate all unions?

Isn't it the norm to use quotation marks, such as "consorts with minors" when actually quoting something from the article?

Attending the birthday party of an 18-year-old who happens to be the daughter of a political ally is not exactly consorting with minors. Going to that party while missing the parties of his own children is pretty lame, but it doesn't necessarily mean he was trying to get some underage poon.

Seriously, that dude makes Dubya look like a saint. Basically, imagine Karl Rove owned Fox News and CNN, belonged to the Mafia, and was the President, and you have some idea.

Clock Spider Jerusalem: "A teenager may act like they know everything and behave like they're mature, but they don't and they're not."

That's often true of women well into their twenties, though. Suppose that, although you may appear outwardly competent to make your own decisions, I were to decide that it was illusory and that you're better off if I make decisions for you. After all, odds are you've made some poor decisions in the past.

But then, haven't we all? Is there ever a point where we become perfectly rational and competent? I don't think so. I think the reason most countries place their AoC somewhere around 14-16 is because by that age we know what we like and what we don't like, and we're capable of expressing it. We may not make the best decisions, but they're ours to make, and noone elses. Forgive me for saying so, but I remember being reasonably competent at 17, and when someone tells me 17 year old women can't make decisions for themselves, what I hear is "women can't make decisions for themselves".

That said, although the guy's a bit of a sleaze, he's acting within the law and I'm not about to pass judgement on his sexual preferences.
