I always thought that if Nixon had a banjo, he'd still be president.

I had a couple once ask me if I was bi. I said yeah, I'm bi, I can speak Spanish and English. Then they asked if I was into S&M, and I said, yeah, I love Spaniards and Mexicans.

The only thing better than having a banjo is hitting people with it.

Stay away from the banjo, it will kill you!

Banjoes are cool but Peter Seeger is an jerk.

From being a communist from the 40s to today, to trying to cut the power cords with an axe at the Newport Folk Festival in '65 cuz he didn't like Bob Dylan 'playing electric' to his sympathy for tyrants and dictators (with Castro at the head of the list) this guy is a worthless POS and he gets deserves no kudos because he hasn't died yet.

"I think banjo could've been the one thing that saved Nixon. He comes out and goes 'I'd like to talk about the economy, but first, here's a little Foggy Mountain Breakdown.'"

Seeger's my favorite Stalinist.

Love his work for Clearwater and the civil-rights movement, but when it comes to international politics he makes Jimmy Carter look like Patton.

On the other hand, he'll always make time to play at the local schools. And he doesn't do shrill. When Pete is out protesting against the Iraq war and there are pro-war protests on the other side of the road from him, he always makes a point to have a civil conversation with people on the other side, and also picks up trash while he's protesting, which in both cases is far more than can usually be said.

If you love your Uncle Sam,
Bring them home, bring them home.
Support our boys in Vietnam,
Bring them home, bring them home.

It'll make our generals sad, I know,
Bring them home, bring them home.
They want to tangle with the foe,
Bring them home, bring them home.

They want to test their weaponry,
Bring them home, bring them home.
But here is their big fallacy,
Bring them home, bring them home.

I may be right, I may be wrong,
Bring them home, bring them home.
But I got a right to sing this song,
Bring them home, bring them home.

There's one thing I must confess,
Bring them home, bring them home.
I'm not really a pacifist,
Bring them home, bring them home.

If an army invaded this land of mine,
Bring them home, bring them home.
You'd find me out on the firing line,
Bring them home, bring them home.

Even if they brought their planes to bomb,
Bring them home, bring them home.
Even if they brought helicopters and napalm,
Bring them home, bring them home.

Show those generals their fallacy:
Bring them home, bring them home.
They don't have the right weaponry,
Bring them home, bring them home.

For defense you need common sense,
Bring them home, bring them home.
They don't have the right armaments,
Bring them home, bring them home.

The world needs teachers, books and schools,
Bring them home, bring them home.
And learning a few universal rules,
Bring them home, bring them home.

So if you love your Uncle Same,
Bring them home, bring them home.
Support our boys in Vietnam,
Bring them home, bring them home.

Not sure how many people know this, but Pete did all of the banjo tracks for the Raising Arizona soundtrack. They're all cuts borrowed from his Goofing Off Suite.

Some of the best folk music of all time, imho.
