Mine didn't do that. For those as do not wish to try, the answer is Muslims. Not sure what that's supposed to prove, though. Perhaps Subbyve the exact same things, as would you, I or any non-corpse.

The results of the various religions are almost eerily predictable to my assumptions of where they land on the political/ideological scale. I like it when things just logically make sense.

(With the caveat that Muslims in America are going to be a heck of a lot more liberal and moderate than in other areas of the world)

America, land of religious tolerance and freedom of religion.

Unless, of course, you are Muslim, Mormon or Scientologist. Then you need to be demonized.

Muslims are no more frightening than any other religion. What is frightening is that they all still believe, in this day and age, that there is a god.

A lot of Jews were suspicious of Obama's supposedly Muslim past although Sarah Silverman swooped down to Florida to dissuade them of that belief. I wish I could find the clip of when the Daily Show went down to Florida to talk to Jewish senior citizens about the election. Hilarity.

Why are all Jews and Muslims considered to be a part of the same group, but there is break down of Christianity into different sects?

Karma Chameleon: Why are all Jews and Muslims considered to be a part of the same group, but there is break down of Christianity into different sects?

Sample Size. Jews, in total, made up only 2% of those surveyed, so to break them up would make the results too inaccurate. Same with Mormons (2%). Muslims in total made up 0.4%.

FTA:"Muslims are most likely among some religious groups in the United States to approve of the job performance of President Barack Obama, according to a Gallup poll released today.

"About 85% of Muslims approve of Obama's job performance, followed by 79% of Jews, 73% of those with no religious affiliation, 67% of Catholics, 58% of Protestants, and 45% of Mormons, according to the poll results."

Obviously, the reason for Muslims' high approval has less to do with the actual policies of Obama, and more with the awful policies of his predecessor. The Republicans demonized Muslims so much, that virtually anyone who didn't do that would get high approvals from them.

Even moderate Muslims tend to be quite socially conservative by American standards. They just don't appreciate being made scapegoats of.

Karma Chameleon: Why are all Jews and Muslims considered to be a part of the same group, but there is break down of Christianity into different sects?

Statistics. In a random sampling, the margin for error goes up as the sample size gets smaller. Doing a poll like this in the US a large number of christians will respond. Braking that group down on to smaller chunks due to the large sample size shouldn't affect the margin for error. Even the gross break down of Christians is fairly hackneyed. Saying someone is protestant really doesn't give you a whole lot more information since it is a fairly diverse group as well.

Conversely the number of Muslims or Jews that you would get in a poll like this, is going to be already on the small side. Breaking them up in to subgroups will only increase the margin for error. As it is from the poll numbers the MoE for Muslims was 6% compared to the various Christians groups of 1-2%.

Well, if anything proves Muslims hate America, this has to be it.

Seriously, why else would a group of people in favor of dictatorship/theocracy ran by Sharia law instead of good, wholesome Christian values so strongly support the socialist who wants to spend all our grandchildren's money, allow gay marriages and abortions, and force us all to have health care while telling us what we can and can't teach our children? Obama probably started all those secret Muslim rumors just so he could get them on his side and vote for him, so he can get into office and ruin our economy and lifestyle, just so the next round of terrorist attacks are easier.

Yeah, exactly. Obama hasn't even thrown them much of a bone. He's said that America isn't at war with their religion, and that's really all he's done, vis-a-vis their religion. But considering the past 8 years... not being demonized is a huge difference.

Another factor may be the large number of African-American Muslims in America. Obama also gets high approval ratings from African-Americans.

Weird. Detroit Free Press was never like that before. Makes me wonder if THEY got infected with something. It's not like they can afford webmasters to keep the thing secure these days.

You know, Protestants are a huge group.

Think about it -- you have the Evangelicals. You have the mainline Protestants. You have the Pentecostals and the Presbyterians. You have Southern Baptists (who were big fans of Huckabee, and not big fans of Obama) and you have the black churches (which overwhelmingly favor Obama). That 58% doesn't really mean much to me.
