Detectives say Hines told them he had tossed the gun into a Queens sewer. The gun was later recovered from the sewer by police.

Why steal a gun only to toss it in a sewer? Did her use it in a crime first?

That's exactly right. By letting your bags go through the TSA and the airlines, you can't ever prove who stole your stuff, so you always lose.

So if your stuff is stolen at the airport, you need to be a policeman to recover it.

Check.

It would have been just as useless, but probably more relevant if they told us when the police officer's gun was manufactured.

The sergeant alerted authorities after arriving in Orlando, Florida.

Exactly, why would anyone possible ever want to carry a gun? What are you going to do, use it for protection or something? How silly!

"No common or contract carrier shall require or cause any label, tag, or other written notice to be placed on the outside of any package, luggage, or other container that such package, luggage, or other container contains a firearm." [18 USC Sec. 922(e)]

The "Gun in here!" stickers was outlawed years before the TSA come into existence.

Sounds like a baggage handler needs to be a) fired, and b) jailed.

Now, just think what would happen if every legal gun owner had to inform the government that they have weapons. Go on vacation, come back, and voila! No guns!

/And the capital of Nebraska is Lincoln.

Her mate responds by raising his wings and tail, turning the back of his head to her and swimming away. She then follows him.

Dude, he's going to Florida! Obviously you haven't been on Fark long enough, otherwise you'd realize that of all the states you'd want to gun to protect yourself from some totally random, bizarre incident that would be posted on Fark for it's random bizarreness, Florida is that state.

Yeah, but they still make you put it on there. They aren't supposed to, but they basically say "Put this on or find another flight."

Oh, and as to why someone would take their gun with them on vacation? It's called the Law Enforcement Officer's Safety act. Law Enforcement Officers can carry essentially anywhere. You've probably made the argument that only the cops need guns before, This cop just happened to want to still be able to have access to his firearm when not on duty.

Look, if you can't see the point of that quote, then you have a problem. It was totally relevant to the story. Maybe you are just stupid, so I'll explain the relevance to you:

The first automatic fire extinguisher of which there is any record was patented in England in 1723 by Ambrose Godfrey, a celebrated chemist. It consisted of a cask of fire-extinguishing liquid containing a pewter chamber of gunpowder.

Most people think that the number immediately following the F in the common designation of a fluorescent light bulbs specifies the length; like in the F96T12CW/SS, A 75 watt light bulbs that is in fact approximately 96 inches in length. When in many cases it only specifies the nominal length or the wattage.

Since the TSA carnies won't allow you to properly lock your luggage anymore, the luggage handlers can steal the stuff the TSA clowns don't take.
