(Some Guy) Interesting Because "Warped tour" wasn't bringing in as much white trash as they hoped for, Warped founder plans similar tour but with country music artists, so fans can enjoy a completely different dated style of music   (billboard.com) divider line 46

Because my style of music is better than yours. It doesn't matter who you are or what music you like. Just like your favorite band sucks and my dad can beat up your dad.

I think most of the artists that fall under "alt country" would not be interested in a large, commercial, sponsor-driven tour, so I wonder who they are going to target.

Nice.

Warped Tour is a farking joke now. Some of the bands in the lineup this year (Brokencyde) are the most dreadful excuses for "music" on the planet, and are only there to get the allowance money of retarded 14-year-olds with terrible haircuts. Of course, every year they get someone like Bad Religion to play for a half hour to give it some air of legitimacy, but it's all bullshiat. Go to The Fest in Gainesville if you want some good punk rock.

Very much THIS. I remember the glory days of Pennywise, Bad Religion, NOFX, H20, The Vandals being regulars on the tour.

Now it's emo and other whiny "we get it, you hate yourself" music.

/Though still some good acts get in.
//Such as Flogging Molly, this tour.

This years line up (band I enjoy):

Authority Zero
Bad Religion
DOA
Fear
Fishbone
Flipper
NOFX
The Adicts
The Dickies
TSOL
UK Subs

They wont be at every date and I wouldnt imagine many of them are made up of their original line ups but still some really good bands (or were) coming out.

Lyman, who has also launched the Rockstar Taste of Chaos and Rockstar Mayhem tours, now has his sites set on a similar model for country- a multi-act, multi-stage, sponsor-driven tour with heavy label involvement and a conservative ticket price.

Yeah trollmitter got me. But then I actually RTFA. Sounds like the model is so successful that it's spreading through the genres. IMO this is one of the most fan friendly ways to see more famous bands. My first concerts were KROQ's Weenie Roasts, an annual benefit festival where the tickets were first about $40 and then went up to around $55-$60 over 5 years. But I got to see a bunch of bands where it would have cost me that much or more just to see one them at their own concert.

Warped Headliners this year include all three I believe... but the emo suckfest that accompanies those bands is enough to skip it.

If you bought Pennywise's first album then you've heard all of their albums. They suck. Unless of course you drive a lifted truck and go to the river with your dirt bikes then they are your Led Zeppelin.

The first part sort of makes sense but Bad Religion doesn't have the Bro appeal of Pennywise, but it's kinda true, you only really need 80-85 or Suffer and you're pretty much set. Warped Tour is a great opportunity to see what constitutes the latest edition of the punk rock uniform. "Our art form may have pretty much died in the 80s but that's no reason to stop pretending that dressing like it's the 80s is rebellious in any way, shape or form!"

All bands start to sound a bit repetitive/similiar after 13 albums...but the lyricical content is still far better than 99% of most music today.

So you've never heard of Bad Religion or NOFX? Because they're on the tour this year.

So is Flogging Molly, Less than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto, Anti-flag... damn, now I really want to go, and I hate live music.

No white trash at warped tour? Haha, has submitter ever been? There's way fewer middle-class suburban white boys than there are wiggers, anarcho/street/gutter punks -- people who actually *aspire* due to political values to live as close to homeless as possible. Half of them don't even believe in deodorant, regular bathing, clothes washing, bandaids and neosporin, brushing teeth, or high paying salaries. They're bums. No two ways about it.

That's way more white trash at warped tour than could ever be found in the country scenes, which espouses listeners to acquire huge sprawling farms, big trucks, nice cars, nice families, and make tons of money. So there. Submitter loses.

From their myspace page:

The new albums are coming out on May 19th. MVD Audio is releasing world wide, except for Australia / New Zealand, where Fuse Music will release a Double CD Package. We have a new studio album we call "Love" and a live album we're calling "Fight." "Love" is an album of all new songs we wrote and recorded with Krist Novoselic on Bass. "Fight" is the evil twin to "Love" and was recorded live in Seattle and Portland. Jack Endino recorded and coproduced both albums. You can hear songs from the new albums streaming now on our playlist.

The long overdue back catalog is out and available in the US/Canada/Australia/Japan. European fans can expect the catalog out in June. We will be releasing more albums later this year. We have found rare and unreleased material in the Flipper vaults. We expect to release 3 or 4 more albums in the late fall. Look for more DVD's in the future as well.

We are going down under in June to tour Australia / New Zealand. We are doing a series of dates at the start and the finish of the Warped Tour this year. September will find us in Europe.

We will be introducing Rachel Thoele on Bass from here on. Krist has decided that touring is not something he wants to do, at this time, so Rachel is taking up arms and joining us in battle on the tour front. Rachel has done time in Frightwig, Mudwomen, and Van Gough's Daughter.

current touring configuration of the band:
Bruce Loose
Ted Falconi
Steve DePace
Rachel Thoele

Mr. Chainsaw: Wait, FEAR? Really??

Probably more like Lee Ving and some random dudes.

I was at the Warped Tour in "Boston" (ie, Mansfield) in 2007, primarily to see Bad Religion. It's definitely a mish-mash that tries to be all things to all people (hardcore, mallpunk, emo, alt-rock, thrash, psychobilly, ska, etc.), but I think that's the only way a tour of this magnitude would work.

But for my money, the best summertime concert experience was that Todd P show at The Yard last year. Though they may not be punk per se, Titus Andronicus is as punk as it gets.

DK started in the 70s kid and Black Flag and Minor Threat are both self proclaimed second wave punk / first wave Hardcore.

Frist wave LA punk was Germs, Weirdos, The Bags, etc. Bands like Black Flag grew out of the jocks and surfers cutting their hair an dbecoming punk, wanna primary source? Listen to the kids in Decline of Western Civ Pt 1 or read any interview with anyone who was THERE.

Now get off my lawn.
Oh and DK sucks as much as Crass. A bunch of propaganda being dumped down the throats of dumb kids.
