winning?

Gilligann [TotalFark] 2009-04-30 08:16:14 PM
The GOP constantly slams the dems for every little thing they do, but they rarely offer any alternatives, other than total surrender. Does it really make sense to have this all or nothing attitude?

flaEsq [TotalFark] 2009-04-30 08:19:44 PM
This sort of thing reflects less courage than found in your typical backyard hen

hubiestubert [TotalFark] 2009-04-30 08:38:49 PM
Maybe not reminding folks who was on watch during the worst terrorist attack in the nation's history is maybe not the best way to go about things...

Neeek [TotalFark] 2009-04-30 08:43:47 PM
Gilligann: The GOP constantly slams the dems for every little thing they do

The GOP routinely plans contingency attacks. That is to say, they see a decision that a Democrat is going to have to make one way or the other, and prepares attacks for both options.

They don't care if it's a good thing or a bad thing, as long as it's a Dem thing.

WaltzingMathilda [TotalFark] 2009-04-30 09:02:56 PM
It didn't work in the election, and unless we are attacked again on a serious scale, it's not going to work anymore.

You can't keep saying "remember 9/11?" when nothing else has happened and you've already been voted out.

Solid State Vittles 2009-04-30 09:32:03 PM
Man, I could have sworn that there was a Republican in the White House when the 9/11 attacks happened.

GAT_00 [TotalFark] 2009-04-30 09:38:13 PM
Hmm, and they made sure they would be able to use this as a threat by completely farking up the process of stopping the terrorists. Afghanistan and Iraq have actually increased terrorism across the world since 9/11.

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2009-04-30 09:54:24 PM
Solid State Vittles: Man, I could have sworn that there was a Republican in the White House when the 9/11 attacks happened.

its still Clinton's fault, and if you disagree, you're with the terrorists.

it's almost pathetic how we don't even have to make new photoshops for the republicans... they never change enough to necessitate new material.

The video's climax races through images of Obama hugging the Saudi king, shaking hands with Venezuela's Hugo Chavez and ends with an image of the Pentagon burning on September 11, 2001, followed by a final question: "Do you feel safer?"

So basically, Republicans have produced a 'Loose Change' video that doesn't even have a relevant climax?

They should have at least put a copy of the Manifesto of the Communist Party on a plate next to a plate of forks, and set both plates on fire, to prove that metal is stronger than socialism.

I'm farking sick and tired of you libtards and your calm-mongering.

There are people out there who want to kill us. Go ahead, try to deny it.

Gilligann: but they rarely offer any alternatives

Those are the "substantial policy differences" that they're talking about.

GAT_00: completely farking up the process of stopping the terroriststhinking "terrorism" is something that can be stopped

Fixed that for you. The idea that "terrorism" can be stopped regardless of tactic is laughable. The idea that "terrorism" can be stopped by doing exactly what the terrorists want us to do is borderline insane.

Megain: so you agree it's a good plan for them? :-)

I agree that his strategy will keep the Republican Party popular among their existing demographic of subliterate inbreds, and that that's exactly where they should stake their position forever.

There sure are, but the GOP didn't do a single thing in their 8 years in power that made us safer. In fact, their abhorrent foreign policy has done more to endanger us than it has to strengthen this country. We've made more terrorists in the last 8 years than Bin Laden could have dreamed possible. Go ahead, try and dispute it.

zeph`: Fixed that for you

Not the way you intended though. There are ways to stop terrorism that don't involve invading countries and giving the terrorists training grounds though, which is what the GOP did.

zeph` [TotalFark] 2009-04-30 10:54:45 PM
GAT_00: There are ways to stop terrorism

There are ways to prevent incidences of terrorism - the world would have to be a radically different place for "terrorism" to end altogether.

They have reasonable polling which does show the GOP is better at "defending America" and crap like that. Suburban white folks get scared of their shadows easy and too many of them (er, us) see the "tough guy" as the one who makes us safe.

The idea of draining the terrorist swamp and making the locals want to be our friends and not support our enemies -- which ultimately makes us far safer (as Bush I and Clinton showed) -- is complicated and confusing compared to "Big Gun Make Big Boom! Vote for Chimpy!"

"We're quite happy to be talking about national security," said a House GOP leadership aide who requested anonymity to speak freely about internal strategy.

Reporter: 'so - what's the plan?'
Republican staffer: 'duuude! we think Obama is totally vulnerable on national security. Oh, and that terrorism thing. completely wide open on that.'
R: 'but Arlen Specter bailed on you, and you guys lost control of the senate, the house AND the white house. plus rumor has it some SCOTUS judges are set to retire this year. shouldn't you guys be worried about that?'
RS: 'nah. see, if we start fixing our problems, then Obama will gain ground.'
R: 'that's nuts.'
RS: 'hey, we need to keep people thinking about Obama's mistakes, not ours. If we fixed our problems, people would notice! And that's bad.'
R: 'so you guys are just gonna ignore reality completely?'
RS: 'yep! it's a brilliant strategic move. we got Obama right where we want him too! say - you won't use my name when you write about this will you?'
R: 'i'm not even sure I want to put MY name on this article, so I think you're safe'.

Republicans are scared little pussies who want the government to keep them safe from the frightening Muslim Man.

That's one of the things that define them as Republicans.

You can't expect anything different from those children.

The George Will / William F. Buckley wing of the Republican party really needs to step in and start kicking some serious ass.

Because at this rate, the 2012 Republican National Convention will be a belching contest, followed by a farting contest, followed by two straight days of Sean Hannity telling everybody in the convention center how great of an American they are, followed by another farting contest.

This reminds me of the specials editions they used to have in Mad magazine, where there was a fake interview with someone like a Summer camp's owner or something. Nice work. Frighteningly plausible.
