I can't wait to hear the rest of this well thought out plan.

Before I RTFA I thought gay men were upset at her. Bad choice of name Hannity.

Mr.Insightful 2009-04-29 12:34:24 PM
Probably they'll try to cancel at the last moment and demand their money back.

I Said [TotalFark] 2009-04-29 12:34:54 PM
So we have a location and time when a room will contain not only Teabaggers, but Janeane Garofalo as well?

Fire up the bombers.

Blackbird [TotalFark] 2009-04-29 12:34:59 PM
These people probably voted Obama to show him who's boss.

"We're so angry, we'll give her money!"

I'm still convinced the Tea Party movement was started by Lipton to fool idiots.

Is Ticketmaster organizing this protest?

It will be funny when they act like assholes and are ejected from the venue by venue staff and then claim persecution.

/sees where this is going

hey tea baggers, my views are directly opposite of yours... would you be interested in my ebay store?

TFA: Just for the record, while Garofalo was wrong to call all teabaggers racists, it's not like Fox doesn't say the same exact thing about those of us on the left.

Wat

Officials were tipped off by the fact that people were buying tickets to her show.

I would have before whatever it is she did to her face happened. Maybe it's just the makeup on 24, but she seems to have gotten the ever-so-popular Hollywood duckjob done to her face.

a reverse boycott works when you buy up tickets........no one else can attend...... you don't show up...... and demand a refund, right?

haplo53 2009-04-29 12:44:43 PM
Wasn't the whole point of the teabagging thing to protest that Obama was taking most of their money? Now they're spending what little they claim they have left on comedy tickets?

Likely the idea is to leave as many empty seats as possible for the event itself. All the protest will really do is deprive the venue of money it would make on drinks and such.

She has her moments. She looked pretty good in "Truth About Cats & Dogs" & "Big Trouble".

I'd teabag it.

hubiestubert [TotalFark] 2009-04-29 12:46:01 PM
This sort of goes along with the whole "we're going to protest taxes by buying stuff that has a sales tax! THAT'LL SHOW THEM WHEN WE DON'T USE THEM THE WAY THEY EXPECT US TO!" mentality.

To be fair, right wing protesters just don't really have a lot of experience at this sort of thing, so you'll forgive them if they don't quite have the hang of it yet...

No. She was good in the West Wing because she wasn't acting; that's just her. But I don't think she's particularly funny, no.

How do you think the country got into this economic mess in the first place? These types used to be in charge.

Quasar [TotalFark] 2009-04-29 12:46:08 PM
I remember back during the beginning of the Iraq debacle when France came out against the war, people organized little protest parties where they would buy French wine and then pour it out.

They really stuck it to those croissant-eating fairies.

Well, according to the Paris Business Review, that REALLY hurt France.

I wondered how such an outspoken liberal like her got a part on such a conservative show like 24, until Jack shouted at her this past Monday.

"IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH US STOPPING TERRORISM THEN LEAVE. COMPLAINING ABOUT US VIOLATING THE BILL OF RIGHTS IS NOT HELPING."

It's like they kept her there all season just so the producers could write that little scene in towards the end.

Why Would I Read the Article: Putting all political ideologies aside, is there anybody on the planet that thinks Janeane Garofalo is funny?

She can be. She was funny in Reality Bites and Romy & Michelle's High School Reunion. She was pretty good (though not funny) in Steal This Movie, too. I'm not really a fan of her stand-up, mostly because she's not David Cross.

Cute spritely Janeane Garofalo from Truth About Cats and Dogs or Mystery Men? YES PLEASE!

Angry overly tatooed Janeane Garofalo of right now? Eh ... a few beers and I would.

She had some good standup in the 1991-1994 range. She had a whole angsty gen-x thing going. I don't remember any politics being involved in her schtick back then.

maniacbastard [TotalFark] 2009-04-29 12:49:22 PM
Teabaggers view of the world:

Taxes (that actually benefit the payer) = teh evil

Ticketmaster 'fees' (that do not benefit the payer) = A-OK!

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Dumbasses. I hope they shoot that comedy show live just to watch the heckler beatdown.

TonnageVT [TotalFark] 2009-04-29 12:49:33 PM
I still want one of these "tea-baggers" explain to me, what evidence they have of us heading towards fascism, socialism, communism, and any other "isms" they were taught as a child to be bad.

I just want one to explain me that, none have so far.

Which is, IMHO, when Jack became a douche-bag and the show jumped the shark, couch, whatever.

The Name 2009-04-29 12:50:56 PM
I'm confused . . . are they buying tickets so they can show up and heckle her, or are they buying tickets and not showing up so as to ruin her show?

If it's the former, then I think Garofalo will have the upper hand intellectually (not that she's the sharpest tool in the shed to begin with). If it's the latter, then I think they might be on to something. Let's face it, the show was going to go on one way or another, and it's not like boycotting it would have made any sense, since I'm pretty sure the Teabaggers are more of a Veggie Tales crowd anyway.

I've supported and liked her most of her career but I felt it move when she was being screamed at and just cowered like a little mouse.

SUBMIT TO ME, YOU REBELLIOUS WENCH!

Classic scene for us bastards out there.
