Wouldn't they want to serve something they don't normally have since it's a special occasion?

The complaints were all about abortion. Senator Gregg doesn't much care about abortion. He's not running for re-election in 2010 either, so he's probably looking after his legacy, not his election chances.

Do a Google search for "Sebelius abortion record" and see how many pro-life/anti-choice groups have websites with this as the top story.

Scary folks out there.

While I won't go as far as to call it a craphole... Kansas seemed like a place for farmers and people who serve farmers. Outside of that, no real reason to be there.

Republican opponents cited Sebelius' pro-abortion stances and raised concerns about whether Obama administration plans to overhaul the nation's health system would cut out Republicans and lead to rationing of care.

Some of us have to live here, you know.

For a place that's not a real state, it's not too bad - not like Minnesota, or North Dakota, or something.

You do realize they've been tracking this less than a week, you know. Sure only a few dozen Americans have been confirmed with it but it is definitely a public health emergency. It may not pan out as a public health disaster, but it is already an emergency. Hint: You don't wait until everyone's dead before you work on the problem.

I'm pro-abortion. I think we ought to subsidize it and encourage it.

If we encouraged abortion for single and poor mothers, drug abuse and violent crime would essentially be eliminated in 20 years.

Republicans agreed to stop being piece-of-shiat obstructionists once an epidemic broke out.

If it's just now making you suspicious of Republicans, well, pay closer attention. This is all they're capable of doing anymore.

Name the last actual innovation and benefit to American life they developed. I'll give you a hint: it was 20 years ago.

Just ask Hawaii how this free stuff turns out

they offered free medical care to any kid with no coverage

//wait what??? every parent then drops their coverage and puts their kids in the free program

//wait what??? say it did not happen.. almost bankrupted the state

Of course I do. I also know that viruses and bacteria evolve to become drug-resistant, and can be significant health threats. However, if a dozen infections of a disease that can be treated with existing drugs meets your standard for a "public health emergency," then you will always be in a state of emergency, making the term useless. Hell, MRSA kills somewhere around 19,000 Americans a year.

Saying that someone is thrust into the middle of a public health emergency that has so far affected a dozen Americans is sensationalistic, and not only is the harm done by the fear far greater than the actual threat at this point, it marginalizes and distracts the public from health threats with much greater impact. Let's be reasonable and rational people, and reserve the terms "emergency" and "pandemic" for situations that deserve them.

She's been a governor, so she has executive experience handling hideously gruesome situations. Hell, she can probably see Oklahoma from her house.
