The drummer from Def Leppard's only got one arm.

/First thing I think of when I hear/see Def Leppard
//Damn you Jimmy Pop

I saw them in concert when they were doing their Adrenalized tour. Two women showed up in black lingerie before the show started and sat down behind us. Then someone shined a spotlight on the two women and escorted them away. Years later I saw Def Leppard: Behind the Music and it all became clear to me.

This is supposed to be surprising somehow? What passes for "country" was designed in the 90s to appeal to people who claimed they hated country music, so it ended up sounding like an even shiattier version of mainstream 70s and 80s pop-rock.

Nashville and Def Leppard both suck balls.

In the land of the blind the man with one eye is king.
If no-one in Country music uses a drummer, a one armed drummer can rule over them.

I saw them on the Hysteria tour (I think) right after I graduated from HS. Ran into a girl I knew from Spanish class after the show. She & some other girl were all boothagged out trying to get backstage. I BS'd w/ her for a minute, wished her luck & bolted.

I ran into her at the Van Halen Monsters of Rock concert later that summer. I asked her if she ever made it backstage at Def Lep. She said she did & that she spent 3 days banging Rick Savage. I was all "Uh, yeah." Then she reached into her bag & pulled out what must've been 3 rolls of film worth of pics of her, her friend & the band. Some of them were pretty explicit.

So the same 80s arraignment is now 'country' because a 'country' singer did a duet with Joe? Does this mean Rush could win a Peabody for being on Colbert?

I don't get it.

Chastain86 2009-04-28 06:52:47 PM
I downloaded a three-song live song pack from them for Guitar Hero once. The songs were so horribly done and lame to play that I immediately deleted them from my hard drive after the first playthrough, and vowed never to see them play live if that's the kind of bullshiat I could expect from them.

I would guess that's not the outcome DL was hoping for, but there it is. Those songs were farking terrible, and they actually made me swear off seeing them live.

LOL You complete me.

Saw the country thing coming a few years back, when the drummer beat up his wife.

I saw that tour at the Spectrum in Philly. Back in the day when you could still get good seats if you got lucky and got through on the phone right away when you were calling Ticketmaster. I got 10th row seats and ended up leaning against the stage for the whole show. It was a damn good show. Of course that was about 16 years ago by now.

As a side note, it's worth watching the videos of the Taylor Swift/Def Leppard songs on the CMT web site because she looks damn hot in that little gold dress that she's wearing. I particularly recommend the first minute or so of Hysteria.

I saw them 20 some years ago when Pyromania came out. A friend of mine's dad is a doctor. Supposedly he treated the whole band for the clap when they came to town.

Would that include all the stunning numbers they have racked up since "Slang"?

Cause it could push them over 65.5 million if it didn't.

WTF is Taylor Swift doing singing "Photograph"? Rick Allen's arm has been gone longer than this girl has been alive.

No one, including the aged has-been members of Def Leppard, should be singing anything from High 'n' Dry or Pyromania anymore. Let them stand as they were before the band became teh suck.

There's actually some good music coming out of Nashville right now. it's just that none of it is being made by contemporary "country" artists.

I'll go out on a limb and presume some "edgy" country artist will get RaHoWa nominated in a year or two with a cover. That or Cowboy Troy will collaborate with Paris and rule the country charts for months.

The CMT thing wasn't bad, but I wonder if Taylor Swift asked about the lyrics to Pour Some Sugar on Me before she belted it out.

Just seemed a little odd. I kept waiting for Chris Hansen to pop up.

buddyrtr 2009-04-29 08:17:05 AM
I like Def Leppard, and Taylor Swift is very nice to watch, but (IMHO) her singing voice is just a little too "sweet" to do well with their songs.

/Would still like to pour some sugar on her

Taylor Hill, Carrie Swift, and Faith Underwood are the female versions of everything that is wrong with country music these days. Photogenic yet interchangeable bimbos with no unique vocal talent, i.e., they look nice and sing nice. BFD.

mfaby 2009-04-29 12:01:36 PM
I watched parts of the Def Leppard and Swift concert.

1) Those guys are still pretty good

2) I think that concert was 'sweetened' in post production

3) Taylor Swift just isnt that attractive; heard a comment that she had a 'pinched face, like a man hole cover' and yeah, I see the point. She is still fine to look at and watching her shake it is nice, but she seems like a light weight.

4) Her voice and performance just aren't strong enough to carry the songs,

5) Finally being able to understand the lyrics does not help.

Outtape 2009-04-29 12:25:43 PM
Proof positive that this band sucks like no other. They've sucked up the rock genre so thoroughly they've now gone in search of other genres in which to suck.

MikoSquiz 2009-04-29 12:49:12 PM
Well duh. Shania Twain keeps winning Country Music Awards these days with sub-Britney MTV pop, what makes you think Def Leppard wouldn't win some country award with their blandly clinical dog puke?

jicon 2009-04-29 12:53:24 PM
I met the drummer 4 years ago, and he is on some other planet, I'm sure. Some weird fascination with incense candles, 'blessing' tea, and drum circles. He can carry a beat, but certainly 'marching to a different drummer'. He also thought I was really angry with the world. Thanks Fark.

There was some sort of backstage line up to 'meet the band' from what I remember, and couldn't believe the calmness and hotness of a lot of the women. High heels, great shape, mid-late 20s. I swear they must have been high end escorts of some kind.

Songs from the Sparkle Lounge actually is a good album... even with Tim McGraw on it. I've seen a few tours throughout the years and they still put on a decent show.

Its still real to me dammit!

I -like- DL. I don't know who this girl is, but no. Just... no. I don't like the mix of her voice and DL. Give me Annie Lennox or someone. This girls voice is too 'thick' or something for the style.

I noticed someone called out Chris Hanson... WTF, a minor singing something like this? And in that outfit? Um...

How can you say that when you didnt actually play any of them? Damn what a douche comment. I'm sure this is just some "gimmick" you use to post and you can't POSSIBLY litterally mean what you said. If you did, you're a douche bag.
