I always felt Flea shouldve quit and form his own kick-ass funk band. No ballads allowed, and especially no sad, stupid Anthony Kiedis lyrics
that could've had potential, 5-10 years ago

UncleScam 2009-04-28 04:11:06 PM
yeah, who even hears from these guys any more? it's not like they released a critically- and commercially successful double-album in the last few years that yielded several hit singles....

Almost this.

Flea and the guitarist are pretty good but these guys have been crappy since the start and the ballads just made them worse.

I could never understand someone listening them as a funk band when Parliment/Funkadelic and James Brown are right there, being the real deal.

Cool I can't wait for more songs that mention California over and over again.

I like that one song of their with the cool, quirky guitar riff and Flea popping the bass and where Anthony sings/raps about California. The solo is pretty trippy, too. That song is so good.

What is that one song called?

All of them, I think.

I remember a friend of mine in back High School drew the cover of "Mother's Milk" on the front of his trapper keeper and got in trouble for it. It was a great reproduction of it, I thought.

Worst. Band. EVAR!!! I would sooner buy a Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch CD than a RHCP cd. I would rather be forced to listen to a 12-hour mix tape of nothing but Ace of Base, Chumbawumba, Abba, and whoever sang that "Barbie Girl" song than to have to listen to even one RHCP song.

These guys suck. They suck, they suck, they suck. I just don't know of any simpler way to put it. They suck.

And so their fans.

They were never really the same after Hillel Slovak died, IMO. I think that was when they started losing their edge. And they quit heroin.

I can't stand the RHCP thanks to Under The Bridge. That song is to this day is so overplayed that I can't stand the band.

I thought they just re-released the same 10-12 songs with different titles again and again?

A little Chili Peppers goes a long way

I don't know for sure, but it's possible that maybe, just maybe that was ricky's point. Maybe.

screw you ricky, I like the Peppers.

EH, they had a few really good songs a long long time ago. their breakup has been long overdue. I have no clue what flea will do now, but i hope John Frusciante will go back to his solo stuff, cus he has made some great albums on his own.

bigtotoro 2009-04-28 05:17:20 PM
Everyone that has ever liked them falls in to one of two groups.

1. Those that rightly think that Blood Sugar Sex Magic was their last good album.
2. Those that wrongly think that Blood Sugar Sex Magic was their first good album.

Your favorite band sucks way more than my favorite band, whom you have never heard of.

The Chili Peppers suck. You guys should listen to some of my favorite bands. You've never heard of any them but they're better than any of the bands you like. I'm pretty alternative and I only listen to vinyl.

A great slice of THIS.

Forget all the RHCP haters out there (and apparently they are legion,) Freaky Styley and Uplift Mofo Party Plan are great albums.

I only listen to music in which the hierarchical relationships between the pitch-events contain an inner truth-content, although few are sufficiently gifted to appreciate it.

They were great in the '80s, kinda lost it after that, though they had some OK stuff. Too bad AK decided he could sing and they started doing weak-ass ballads.

On a side note, people who have nothing more clever to say about anything than "it sucks" suck.

Third_Uncle_Eno 2009-04-28 07:41:15 PM
I think Flea and John F. should join the Mars Volta.
They already played on "frances the mute"...

c'mon Flea and John F.... you know you wanna...

Love the music, wish Anthony would work harder on his lyrics. To all those knuckleheads who say all their songs are about California, most of their songs really aren't about anything identifiable.

Anyone can rhyme if the words don't make sense.

Move around like a scientist.

Agreed.

I thought I was gonna get a ton of shiat for not liking them but geeze, I'm almost a fan compared to most of the people here.

I always thought they were overrated - just a bunch of whiteboy posers gettin their groove thang on - and I knew the fix was in when RS started talking about how great they were.

That all sounded alike. I miss the pre-Blood Sugar Sex Magic days. They were a fun band back then. After One Hot Minute tanked they kept retreading the BSSM sound for commercial success.

nah.

I was in the first group for a time. But I find that the more I listen to Californication and By The Way, the more I kinda like them.

Stadium Arcadium wasn't really worth it though.
