(Idolator) Cool Evan Dando owes his celebrity to Lemonheads' cover of Simon & Garfunkel, so it's only natural he releases a Butthole Surfer-produced album of nothing but covers, from Gram Parsons, Wire, GG Allin to Leonard Cohen   (idolator.com) divider line 14

It's a shame about Ray Parker Jr. not getting a cover of "Ghostbusters" on there.

isn't this like the 3rd or 4th link related to this album?

Due to what I'm listening to at the moment, I had a brief glimmer of hope when I saw "Evan" and then quickly realize that Fark would never have a thread about Evan Bartholomew and my hopes sank.

Evan and Steve Hillage's album is incredible.

I shot him doing this (partial) cover of the Velvet Underground's "Jesus" two years ago:
Jesus/Ride with Me (new window)
There's a few other clips from the same show on there (WEQXfest, Albany, NY), too. I partied with him once, back in '92, but I bet a lot of people can say that.

GG Allin to Leonard Cohen

I knew Dando ate shiat, but didn't know it was, you know, literal.

I can't find a link, but in the late 90s, Evan Dando was supposed to play a show in Seattle. Two hours after it was supposed to start, Evan still had not gotten to the venue. His manager called the hotel he was staying at. They hotel staff woke him up. He is quoted as saying something like, "Wow, I didn't think anyone cared about this show? I didn't know anyone wanted to see me anymore."
Now, I'm not trying to feel sorry for Evan, but even he knows that he is pathetic.
/I did like the first Lemonheads album, in 1991 or whatever.

Um, The Lemonheads released 3 full-length albums during the 1980's. "It's a Shame About Ray", while undeniably their breakout hit both commercially and critically, was actually their 5th full-length album.

More proof that Gibby Haynes transformation into a Megalomaniacal douche is complete. He's no producer, man. PAUL LEARY is a producer AND a musician!

Always thought it was crappy that they re-released It's a shame about Ray and tacked the Simon & Garfunkel on the end of it. So anyone who liked the band and bought the album early on had to buy it again if they wanted that cover song.

I have a live recording of Evan doing Fade to Black by Metallica on acoustic, it's interesting...
