I saw the stand a few days ago while taking the Western bus back home (live in Humboldt Park), and I was surprised they actually got the bank to sign off on the loan. Considering they are right across the street from some serious projects on Jackson, they might do well.

The preferred spelling of wiener is W-I-E-N-E-R, although E-I is an acceptable ethnic variant.

So long as none of the cashiers were in for theft or embezzling, and the general manager did time for aggravated assault, they should be fine.

I WOULD NOT BUY ONE I SAW A YOUTOOBS VIDEO OF A GUY WHO PUT A WIENER UP HIS DATE THEN SHAT IT BACK OUT THEN WHACKED IT IN A BUN AND GAVE IT TO HIS ROOMY TO EAT

Can I just say that I think this is awesome? I know there is not a lot of pity on fark for anyone who ever committed a crime, but there really are people out there who have messed up and want to get on with their lives. Our system isn't such a forgiving one, and people need opportunities like this.

There has to be thousands of Mom and Pop dog places in Chicago thanks to Vienna Beef. One more either way won't matter. Besides, this place's logo has Richie and his fifty thieving assistants in an uproar, and that's OK any day.

/Wiener's Circle FTW!

Megain: fox and submitter both fail - it's spelled weiner

Wrong. It's "Wiener" is in "from Wien (the German name for Vienna)". Same as in "Wiener Schnitzel".

drown1now 2009-04-26 09:32:37 AM
You know...most felons have a hard enough time when they get out as it is. You get a guy who wants to make light of it and give a help to some of the guys getting out that want a legitimate job, then more power to him!

I hope this place does well and that this gives a second start in life for some guys who need one!

I fully agree. I have a couple of friends who did something stupid in their youth, and have long since recovered, and paid their debt to society, but their prior conviction has haunted them in trying to seek jobs, even jobs that have nothing to do with whatever their crime was.

So good for this guy. I'm going to make an effort to eat a hot dog from this place.

for the slow kids, let me explain my post... you see, the store's sign has it spelled weiner (see pics), and fox and the submitter decided to spell it correctly instead of how the store is spelling it, making them incorrect when they use quotes around the store's slogan - even though the store is wrong
