What's the test? The cost in ratio to how many calories you get?

Shiat, if you want to get your money's worth why not ask for a slice of lard instead of cheese?

I'm actually looking forward to my trip to Indiana next month, as there will be a few White Castle stops along the way.

THIS! My usual was to get 10 with cheese, onion chips, and a large Big Red (indigestion alone could keep you awake for a few hours of studying!). Total was around $5.00. Perfect for the collegian on the go. (I didn't really say that, did I?)

Alas, no White Castles near here (NE TN), closest I think is Nashville on Old Hickory in Hermitage. They try to pass off Krystal's as "just like" or "just as good as", but I'm not buying it.

ALL HAIL!

Was the img1.fark.net tag on a lunch break? Of COURSE White Castle has some of the cheapest calories in the world. It's cheap meat and fat. The question is, outside of anorexics, who needs more fat on their ass?

mtylerjr: White castle fries only come in one size.

Actually, they have 2 sizes: Regular & "Sack". They used to box the "regular" in a flat box that folded shut. It didn't hold much. Now its in a box like the burgers come in, may a bit more square in the bottom (maybe 2"w x 2"l x 3"h). The "sack" is about twice as much. Its a waxy paper about 3" x 3" x 4".

Nimitz 2009-04-25 07:17:09 AM
No White Castles is Okla. But you can buy them frozen at the grocery stores around town. If they had one in town I'd never eat there. It's just a once a year thing at most during a road trip.

Gem from the article:

In 1930, White Castle conducted a study (it later dubbed it the "Craveology" study) that monitored the health of a student who lived on nothing but the Slyders and water for 13 weeks. According to the company, the student maintained good health. Barbara Baron, a New York registered dietician, says you probably don't want to follow suit. "I wouldn't advise anyone to eat only one food item for 13 weeks," she says.

I suppose I'm in the better position, then. Were I to get a wild hair, I could say, "Hey, I'm gonna go on a quick road trip and get me some Cookout." You really can't do the same unless you happen to have a Gulfstream laying around, in which case I reiterate my hatred of your stinking guts.

I know white castle has been around for a long time, but what's with the other chains jumping on the mini burger bandwagon. I don't remember which chains these were. In one commercial a bunch of chicks surround the guy and start cooing over his mini burgers with vague sexual undertones as he whips them out, and the other has bunch of little people herding vertically-challenged cows. If you're eating 10 mini burgers every day your ass is still going to be supersized. I don't understand the appeal... Self-deception?

How did those retards neglect the dollar menus?

The McDouble is 390 calories with 44% of calories from fat. (McDouble replaced the Double Cheeseburger on the dollar menu this year-- it's two patties with one slice of cheese)

That's 26 cents per 100 calories.

Winnah!

Dude or dudette,

Going through withdrawals? Simply hit up the local pubs and dive into some gorgeous shepherds pie or bangers & mash. Better yet, skip that and go get yourself some fish & chips (don't skip on the malt vinegar).

No, wait. You really ought to check out your local kebab stand. Ask for the doner, and don't skip on the lovely yogurt sauce.

As long as you can see the meat melting off of one of these:

I travel up and down the I-35 corridor pretty frequently, so I get my Whataburger fix in TX, Braum's fix in OK and Winstead's fix in KS. I had In-and-Out once when I went to the west coast, but I fell in love with it instantly.

All the hype you hear about it from people...they ain't lyin'.

Braum's came into its prime circa Pearl Jam - before they got all douchey

In & Out - circa whatever kids are listening to nowadays. Yeah, they're pretty hard to beat.

I don't know WTF the deal was, but when I still lived in the Detroit area, those White Castles were THE BEST FARKING PLACE to get clam strips. They'd knock out established seafood chains, and even a couple of independent places.
