It's not a question simply because it starts with "what if..." and ends in a question mark. It's an assertion that the media would behave in a certain way, an assertion that makes heavy use of the straw man fallacy.

You're missing the point; Rush refused to refer to the pirates as pirates and instead referred to them as "black teenagers".
