Elton should ask the Queen for help; no, not just ask, he should beg the Queen. I'm sure Elton is used to being on his knees in front of queens.

Well, he just ended his run at Caesar's Palace, so he is free to seek new work opportunities. How about a tour, Reggie?

I'm surprised Elton has that much left, considering his spending habits. (new window)

/$428,000 in 20 months for flowers, wow.

WHAT? You mean to tell me that rich people lose money during economic downturns? It's almost as if they're investing it instead of keeping it in a giant swimming pool in their mansions.

Not to worry---there will always be those willing to pay him to tinkle on their piano or flail away at their organ.

What else did you think that fruit would spend his money on?

It's not like he was a multi billionaire to start win. At least, on known funds. It shows Jagger has 190. You would think it would be much, much higher. These guys tour all the time to phenomenal success and have record sales that never stop. Makes you wonder how much the record company is pulling in off their work.

I wonder how much Bernie Taupin has?

Elton John wrote the music, but most of the lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin.

He is touring later this year with Billy Joel.

I just wanna say:

Tumbleweed Connection, Honky Chateau, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and Captain Fantastic FTW!!

/oooooh 175 million left... he's in financial dire straits now!!
[rolls eyes]
// Justin T. was great as Elton in "this train...".
I wonder if that rumour of JT starring as Elton in a bio-pic was just that, a rumour....?

Not as much as you'd think. Bernie's been married five or six times and the divorces have taken place in California, which means that each wife got half of what he had at the time.

Amen, Brother.

I'd pay to see him only if he didn't do anything after 1980.

Areosmith should have continued using drugs, and Elton should have stayed in the closet. They all lost it after that.

I dunno he's always been off and on. He has some really good stuff after 1980. 21 at 33 (1980), Too Low for Zero, Reg Strikes Back, Made in England, Songs From the West Coast are all solid records. Some of the songs got a bit too much mtv rotation but the non singles are great songs.

Third_Uncle_Eno 2009-04-24 01:19:45 PM
I really like "Too Low For Zero" [my first Elton cd, was my parents, grew up with that one along with "goodbye yellow...".

I also quite like "Jump Up!" [1981].
"21 at 33" and "the fox" are mostly 'meh' for me...

though I also really like "Made in England"... was easily his best record/effort since "too low".

Mick Jagger only has 175 million? That seems so low. Maybe that's what he had in his pocket that day. But other sources put his wealth at about 225 million, so what do I know? These record companies must be screwing everyone.

A year or two ago, the Rolling Stones reorganized their holdings and set up some trsust to handle the major assets. They've been Luxembourg or Lichtenstein corporation since the early 70's, and their business manager is a member of the royal family, so the bulk of their assets are "off-shore" from the UK, which means that Inland Revenue doesn't know about them.

I can't find the article I read at the time, but the trusts they set up contained hundreds of millions of dollars and there were several of them.

Basically, not only are the Stones' kids set for life, so are their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
