I've BEEN in line. The problem is that it's regulated by congress and they're too busy naming post offices after JFK to accomplish anything important.

I, for one, am happy that Jon Stewart is as willing to get laughs by holding Democratic anatomy to the fire as he is willing to get laughs with roasted Republican anatomy.

I, for one, think it's retarded that anyone thought TDS was going to have zero material when W. and the GOP lost power. Or that TDS only goes after republicans.

While Fox News calls for the immediate dismissal of anyone to the left of Karl Rove, MSNBC (with the exception of Maddow) apologizes for everything the Democrats do, and CNN focuses on the First Dog and what Michelle Obama wears, TDS is the only rational place left.

This is very, very sad.

what_now: Maddow

She tries too hard to be a lesbian version of Olbermann. It's not her fault though, girls just aren't funny.

Demetrius [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 04:54:50 PM
Pelosi does the Democrats no favors. I don't know why they keep putting her up as speaker.

For many years now the GOP has been mostly offensive to me. I feel the same way about Pelosi.

Diogenes [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 05:06:32 PM
She does realize that she's only giving credence to the mistaken belief that TDS is a real news show, right?

Right?

*crickets*

GAT_00 [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 05:06:53 PM
Ooh, this is going to be good. I'd love to see Pelosi get flamed. Reid too. Both are horribly ineffective leaders that don't deserve their posts.

You see this, guys? All you right-wing zealots out there? This is the EXACT reason why The Daily Show is more honest than 95% of media out there. You can have an opinion and still be fair.

Why not? The right and everyone in the MSM treats it like real news, no matter how often Stewart says they are a comedy show that follows puppets making crank calls, and they are neither fair nor balanced when they do it.

The sad part, and I would think even Stewart might agree, is that they are perhaps one of the more accurate sources out there.

Except if you read the article, it seems to imply that Stewart may have got the context mixed up. Accidentally.

And Stewart will come right out and admit he got it wrong. Then he will play the clip he should have played, make some faces, and Pelosi will wish she'd let it go.

See Cramer, Bear Stearn, et al.

It also doesn't help that TDS viewers are among the most informed in the nation.

I like the fact that Pelosi is shaking her tiny fists of rage at John Stewart.

I'm guessing that this is her idea of a distraction from that major ethics violation over payoffs to her dear old hubby.

SilentStrider [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 05:50:58 PM
Pelosi.
You're smarter than this. Or at least I thought you were.
You will lose this fight because Stewart will not pull any punches, and will not be nice to you just because you're powerful.
Others have tried, all have failed.

hootkr [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 05:55:20 PM
Not smart to pick on someone who is arguably one the most powerful voices in the media. I'm sure he'll just let this one slide...

Or her major ethics violations in learning about torture a few years ago and condoning it.

Gotta say, if the Right wasn't so vested in defending their torture practices, they'd be eating her alive over that fact. And rightfully so.

When he interviewed her a few weeks ago, she had that deer in the headlights look. He was pretty calm on that one. Actually, I thought he was calm with Cramer, who really deserved a harder hit than he took.

Nobody is gonna hold Pelosi responsible for any of this. the attitude is 'hey, she's a corrupt toxic biatch queen but she's OUR corrupt toxic biatch queen so it's ok'.

Uhm... Jon Stewart is like the Drunken farking Master of the political media. He may look like a fool and a buffoon, but getting within arms reach of him is asking to have everybody watch you kick your own ass.

He is going to whip out the archival footage of you complaining about this policy choice when the Republicans did... and he is going to bludgeon you with it.

The best choice is to simply ignore him and his barbs and wait for him to find a better target.

Nope. both 'sides' really don't believe their own press releases. I think they care more about making sure they've got a better parking spot than they do about the impending collapse of our economy. that goes for Republican and Democrat alike.

I'm no fan of "Off the table: Pelosi. She is one of the few who lodged a complaint when she was informed about the torture.

She also may be right in this instance, if you read the article.

MSNBC (with the exception of Maddow) apologizes for everything the Democrats do

Olbermann also criticizes Dems. Just last night a Dem was the Worst Person in the World. Last week he was very vocal about his disappointment in Obama ruling out prosecution for the torturers.

Pelosi is a hypocrite. Whether this issue shows it or not, you just know she is. That may sound like a case for "Objection! Assumes facts not in evidence," but does anyone think that wild-eyed biatch is a truth-teller or a non-hypocrite?

/don't know the word for non-hypocrite

Actually, I think there's a more interesting story buried at the bottom of that article. Cramer is alleging Stewart out-and-out lied -- his claim is that Stewart told Cramer's staff there wouldn't be any clips.

That's damning if true, and a friggin' freight train of fail if false.

My money's on false. Although what kind of man would fear clips of his own words I leave as an exercise to the reader.

the idea was to find a way to charge the laptop while on the move. should be interesting to try it out, but I might need a power adapter of some sort.
