This is why it should be illegal for any meeting to be more than 30 minutes.

Rann Xerox 2009-04-23 05:29:38 PM
Also, no meetings should be conducted immediately after lunch.

Do they have any other proof then the photo? People who are reading often look asleep in photos.

Reagan fell asleep at his own cabinet meetings. Also, sometimes people get photographed when their eyes are shut.

I was too at first but if you look at the whole gallery, it's pretty obvious... there's no way he was reading or the photographer just caught him with his eyes closed. Gotta laugh about it...

I know I've seen pictures of GHW Bush making fun of Brent Scowcroft falling asleep during cabinet meetings (interview linky mentions Scowcroft Award for the official most liable to fall asleep during critical meetings), but my gisfu is weak today, so no pic.

Charismatic leader indeed.

Not enough teleprompter spinster liberal talk about socializing America to keep his cabinet awake.

ACORN.

You, sir, win one internet.

Also, if that many photographers and sound people are in a room, it's not an actual meeting. They had the real thing beforehand. So Larry technically isn't missing new information. He is, however, forgetting that it is a photo-op.

You know, I hate this "gotcha" mentality people have.

People, even leaders are human.
We're not stone, not machines...hell, even machines break down.

If someone has an illness, a bad night,
has been working his ass off,
or hell...maybe "leasure suit" Larry got lucky and pleasured a hot woman all night.
Who knows??

I don't care, what I care about is
Are they intelligent and talented enough
to do the work
solve the problems
and work their ass off in my favor.

If you have a bad day, bad phrase, catnap, trip, choke, blink, fart, etc.
who the fark cares??

Laugh it off, and go back to work.
Get over it.

Eh, he's the expert, he probably knows more about it already than all their briefings put together and sandwitched between the high school Econ textbooks used to prepare them. I'd be inclined to snooze, too.

//Cheap shot, but had to be done.
//Plus, that much media = press conference, what's to be done was decided a week ago, most likely.

WTF...How could he fall asleep in a room like this?

That's what I wondered when I saw that pic.

I mean seriously how do you fall asleep at a meeting with the press AND President???

winterwhile 2009-04-23 06:09:14 PM
gee is it 100 days yet? Now that we know Chairman Obama is the failure we thought he would be, can we just hunker down for a really bad 4 years??????

Thrag 2009-04-23 06:15:36 PM
At one company I worked for a long time ago, once a week we'd all go out for a big lunch and then when we got back to the office have our development meeting. Any time the meeting ran over 20 minutes or so, someone would fall asleep. When the meetings started to get sarcastically referred to as "nap time", we realized that maybe we should do the meeting, then go to lunch after.

I could do it easily. I used to fall asleep in wood shop class. Hell, I've fallen asleep in night clubs.

Keywords. Doesn't matter who's there. Have you ever sat in on a government-related meeting of any kind? I try doing whatever it takes to stay awake, and I've almost fallen out of my chair on more than one occasion...it's an art.

I agree. It's really not that hard. I once fell asleep while leaning against the speakers at a concert.

If you're tired enough, you can fall asleep almost anywhere.
