Speculation doesn't have to mean it was important or gave us nightmares - just that it was talked about, guessed about, considered. It's pretty easy conversation for people to debate the best pet breed - it doesn't even have to be the president's. People have opinions on pets and its easy enough for anyone to guess about. Would you rather hear the average Joe's opinion on war policies or the budget? It's probably less painful to hear retrievers vs poodles.
