It would be pretty surprising to look up and all of a sudden have Rod Stewart singing in your face.

GOD a full-on Faces reunion would be awesome.

Bufu [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 04:33:27 PM
Sure would, MaxxLarge...would love to see Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriott back together. Awesome indeed.

Not going to happen.

Bufu: Sure would, MaxxLarge...would love to see Ronnie Lane and Steve Marriott back together. Awesome indeed. Not going to happen.

Sadly true.

I mean, this was a step in the right direction, but ultimately only as satisfying as that Page/Plant tour, or the Queen + Paul Rodgers thing. Yeah, I went to both, but it just ain't the SAME.

Bufu [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 04:40:17 PM
I remember when Ronnie Wood joined the Stones as a "temporary" guitarist for a tour back in 75 or so...temporary indeed...poor Tetsu never got to record a studio LP with the Faces.

/saw the Faces at MSG in NYC in November or so of 1971...great show.

Jeff's getting a lot of wear out of that outfit. That's what he wore to his induction into the RnR HoF.

/aside from that, his bass player is sweet!

I have to admit that I was thinking it was going to be some bullshiat "Oh look who just showed up" fake "surprise", but the way Jeff Beck was reacting, it's hard to see that. Great clip.

...and which Jeff Beck does as an instrumental as part of his regulah set.

Jeff looked very surprised. Kinda blown away for about 5 seconds.

Jeff had to keep giving the band cues, which seems to indicate that the version +vocals hadn't been rehearsed.

Jeff didn't seem to know which song Rod was suggesting for a few seconds on Superstitious.

Jeff sounded kinda verklempt at the end.

Either Jeff Beck is as great a stage actor as he is a guitarist OR he was legitimately surprised by Rod's sudden appearance.

FlashHarry: moar tal wilkenfeld, plz.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain to me what this chick has going for her besides a pert rack, because her bass playing isn't anything to write home about.

I haven't seen her play anything yet that an average first year music major couldn't handle with ease.

mfaby 2009-04-23 07:48:40 PM
Pretty cool.

Re: Ron Wood and the Stones - I was thinkin about this last week; has it really been over THIRTY YEARS since he joined them?

man, oh, man...
who knows were the times goes...

Is she old enough for me to make obscene comments about her nice looking boob fitting into the cutaway of her bass perfectly? Nothing sexier than a pert titty with a hard nipple hanging over a guitar of any kind.

Of course, only if she's old enough.

Umm...ok. I'll have a seat right over there.

Hot. Damn.

Rock has some legendary pairings and Beck/Stewart is one of them. Too bad they apparently can't stand each other for any length of time.

How is it possible to leave a comment on FARK and not know how to do a google search?

to answer your question:

These two guys have been playing together since the sixties.

Now,they are in their sixties.

In other words--very long rock and roll legacy with these two.

Ain't superstitious. Fabulous. To think the Jeff Beck group had Ron Wood on base. For sure Stewart was down hill ever after.

Beeck was always my favorie of the yardbird guitarists.

Truth was played daily when I was in college. Ola sometimes.

These two all charted this song in the mid 80's as well. I guess making an effort, research, and looking things up are your parents things as well.

Yeah---Mick Waller either. Put Dave Grohl behind the drums and get Beck/Stewart/Wood out there to play. I'll still go for it

I believe this was actually the show on the 21st at the El Rey. I was there last night for the second show and we did not get Rod. We got John Mayer doing Manic Depression with him.
