I'll tell you what it is!

Never understood what anyone saw in that. Sounds like shiat.

Agreed.

Oh wow - It's that song from Guitar Hero!

SJKebab: Oh wow - It's that song from Guitar Hero!

And that was my reaction, too.

Marijuana is a better song, IMHO, and I'm not sure what the purpose of this GL is, unless it's to show that subby has figured out that you can find music videos on YouTube. In which case, subwoofer, here you go:
Y'all know what this is (pops)

Ghoulthulhu 2009-04-23 05:49:01 AM
The Rev might be the best band from Dallas ever..Jimbo rules, i hope hes doing well these days.

Ghoulthulhu 2009-04-23 05:49:40 AM
You also have to see them live, One of the better bands to see live.

The Dynamite Monkey 2009-04-23 07:01:55 AM
Far from the The Rev's best work. If you're not familiar, dig a little deeper. Great stuff.

Jimbo Wallace on the upright FTW!

boomshakra 2009-04-23 07:12:35 AM
second on Ghoulthulhu's comment - they are amazing live. Horrorpops opened for them @ Stubb's a couple of years ago - that was a match made in heaven for psychobilly fans.

Can't wait to see them @ the Revival this year...Lemmy will be playing right before the Reverend...would love to hear a psychobilly version of Ace of Spades

Agreed. Reverend kicks ass, used to go see them at Trees all the time back in the day. Good times.

Saw him last year and he's as energetic as ever. Crazy great show. Bonus: He covered In Bloom and it sounded spot on.

This one's better, if I do say so myself: Live! (new window)

One reason I play upright is because of Jimbo...(pic in profile)

OldManDownDRoad 2009-04-23 08:44:25 AM
The Rev used to swing through the Triangle from time to time. Once saw him on a double bill with The Rev Billy C. Wirtz at The Green Room in Durham.

Took me months to recover.

Vivacious, indeed, but I prefer Martini Time (new window)

Cool pic Badger, can you take those slappin' solos like him? I sure can't...

Good to see another upright player on fark. I took it up about a year ago (after 30 years of 6 string guitar and a little bit of electic bass). My first upright was a real piece of shiat and I would get arm fatigue before I finished practicing. Now I have been playing a Dean electric upright "stick" which makes me look like a dork but it plays like butta and sounds awesome and sure is easier to haul to gigs...

However I am ready to get myself another real upright, and I'd appreciate any input you have.

/ bill black FTW!
// went to sun studios three weeks ago and cried like a girl!

one of the best live bands ever. although, i haven't seen them since they switched drummers a few years back - so who knows what they're up to these days.

my fave track: D is for Dangerous. unbelievable instrumental track.

Nabb1 [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 09:34:26 AM
Damn, they put on a hell of a show. Probably one of the acts I've seen live the most over the years.

Kliffoth [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 09:40:13 AM
Saw him as part of the Bumbershoot festival, damn, like 15 years ago?

Great farking show actually.

I saw them open for White Zombie years ago. By far the best opening set I have ever seen. We became instant fans that night.

solcofn [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 12:16:44 PM
One of my ex-girlfriends (who was from Denton) got me into them.

She was a big little baby.

Well, I got a sweet baby who's six foot tall
Well, she's a full grown woman who's got it all
Big little baby, big little baby

Love me some Reverend!

/seen them about 4-5 times...can't wait to see 'em again!
//go jimbo!

Axiomatic 2009-04-23 12:19:52 PM
The Rev is awesome.

My ex-wife and his wife are high school friends. Used to get free tickets and stuff when I was married to my ex still. He's a really cool guy. My ex... not so much...

My car goes "Buh buh buh buh buh" when she's running good.

Saw em 3 times, and yes it was one of the better shows I've ever seen.

I would've loved to see the Horrorpops open for the Rev.

The psychobilly version of Ace of Spades would be rockin'.

/Lemmy and the Rev on the same stage...scary

Seeing him again on June 2.....$5 tickets. Gotta love it.

Saw the Rev last winter with their new drummer. Sounded great. I'll repeat what everyone else has said here- go see 'em live if ya get half the chance!

i think it was 2 new years eves ago...saw a pic from their gig @ house of blues (New Orleans, i think)...Lemmy & Rev were on bass, Jimbo on Guitar...

the last time i saw Rev they covered Paranoid by Black Sabbath - the drummer sang and was spot-on for Ozzy's voice...was too cool...

AssCobra77 2009-04-23 02:51:58 PM
The Horror Pops are the Good Charlotte of psychobilly. The Reverend on the other hand kicks major ass.

Scatter [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 03:02:51 PM
I've seen the Heat several times, first time he opened for The Cramps at the old 9:30.

I think he's great but I don't think the live shows are what they used to be - a bit of the same old, same old.

theworryrock [TotalFark] 2009-04-23 04:07:44 PM
they put on an awesome live show, but i don't even really like psychobilly freakout or marijuana. they need lyrics! I agree, they sound kind of like noise. Instead:

Five-O Ford
Loco Gringos Like a Party
Livin' On the Edge (of Houston)
Texas Rockabilly Rebel

point taken - i like HorrorPops - YMMV. they did get the crowd good & ready for The Reverend, tho...

They have done a rockabilly cover of The Ace of Spades. They did it when I saw them in Boston last year with the lead singer of Nashville Pussy on vocals. (would be better with Lemmy, though)

The best show I have ever seen was The Toadies, The Reverend, and Butthole Surfers about (wow) 14 years ago.

Gore Fiendus 2009-04-23 06:20:23 PM
I've had the pleasure of seeing the Rev and Lemmy on the same stage. Words cannot describe it.

I saw the Rev tour with Tripping Daisy and the Super Suckers about 3 times...that was a fun show.

Bleh people complain about bands like Horrorpops or Tiger Army being pop versions of psycho, even though they've actually put out some good records and have really helped expand the fanbase and the sound. Sure they aren't Mad Sin or the Cramps or the Meteors but they do have some good music.

Seen the Rev 3 times, once when he opened for Dropkick Murphys and Sex Pistols, truly they all should've opened for him.
