Classic punch line, still makes me chuckle though.

/Can not get into Bab Marley.

I can never get enough reggae, even when Clapton is singing it. WLRN Miami used to have Sounds of the Carribbean on all night, and I never got enough sleep, either.

The far superior original version or the crappy reggae version?

Bushrod 2009-04-22 04:35:59 PM
9. "Simmer Down" - Bob Marley & the Wailers

10. "Carry Go Bring Come" - Justin Hinds & the Dominos

Very nice.

The Live version of Trenchtown Rock is far superior to the studio version and quite different....discuss.

/Trenchtown (live version) is in my top 3 songs of all time.

Everyone knows the most well-known Jamaican song is "Hot Hot Hot" by Buster Poindexter. I defy anyone to spend even a few minutes on a beach in Jamaica without hearing it.

What about "Redemption Song", written by that white dude with dreadlocks who plays at that coffee shop? You know which one I'm talking about.

Kenny Chesney incorporates Carribean rhythms into his music. That's why he f*cking rawks.

I wonder if Bob Marley would know Eric Clapton's kid's name, if he saw him in Heaven?

"My Boy Lollipop" - Millie Small?

lets replace that with "fade away" by junior byles. since it isnt even reggae.

I was on my honeymoon in Jamaica in 1988 and was being introduced to reggae, and loving it. When a band playing poolside at our hotel started "I Shot The Sheriff" I drunkenly yelled out "Eric Clapton!!". I didn't find out that I had been a dumbass until a couple weeks later.

I liked the reggae from the sixties and early seventies. Jimmy Cliff - Wonderful World,Beautiful People and The Harder They Come. Johnny Nash - Hold Me Tight,Stir It Up and I Can See Clearly Now. Desmond Dekkar & Aces - Israelites. Dave & Ansel Collins - Double Barrel, and several more I can't recall at the moment.

I think you should look up what that line means.

Translated: No woman, don't cry.

can someone please explain to me how Bob freakin' Marley only has 9 of the top 100 reggae songs?

He should feasibly have like the first 50 right out the gate, then 85% of the remainder... throw in some Tosh and Lee Scratch Perry to round it out, and you gots a list.

AOMU 2009-04-24 06:09:15 PM
54-45? Isn't that a Canadian band? Anyway, it isn't a song title. Mr. Hibbert would be rolling in his grave if he were dead.
r.
