This would be cool if they made some good heavy rock. As it is I feel like he's joining a crappy band.

So... who is the quality musician in this equation? Because I'm just not seeing it.

Jimmy Chamberlin was the Smashing. If you're not into SP, his solo project is definitely worth checking out.

yeah, b/c Jimmy Chamberlin sucked.

Are you farking retarded, submitter? or just ignorant?

Subby clearly never listened to this band if he thought the drumming sucked.

Now now, based on the panhandling "I'm a musician dude" scene kids that litter off-campus regions I'd say they're about 25 cents apiece.

Daron called off Scars to deal with "personal issues." (heroin I guessing)

This could be cool. Why not give it a whirl.

Cool is not the word I was thinking of.

Interesting was the word I was thinking when I first read this headline.

Not saying he's not a talented drummer and he could adapt to the style of the Pumpkins Billy Corgan Experience, but from what I've heard I don't really feel his style would fit the Pumpkins Billy Corgan Experience, unless suddenly he wants to start doing some really heavy music.

Then again, who knows. Probably come out tomorrow it's just a rumor and everyone's people are denying it.

Bondidude: unless suddenly he wants to start doing some really heavy music.

I think that could be what this is all about. SOAD got alot softer over the years (still rockin as far as I'm concerned) so John may just feel like getting back into some harder stuff. Of course he could just be looking for a pay check which is probably more likely.

True. Even though I kind of gave up on SoaD after Mesmerize failed to impress me that much.

I always did like when the Pumpkins did balls to the wall rockin
out on their albums. They always did it well, and I know many people who say that it was the Pumpkins who got them into metal and heavier music because of it. It'd be interesting to see if Billy still has it in him.

Bondidude: It'd be interesting to see if Billy still has it in him.

Agreed. I am hoping he can come up with something awesome to regain some of the respect he used to get. Unfortunately his is in his 40's which is not the most rockin' stretch of any musicians life.

John Dolmayan is a fantastic drummer. Listen to the SoaD cover of Snowblind for proof.

Isn't Scars just on hold for now? It'd be a shame if they never did another album. The debut was awesome. Certainly much better than Serj's piece of crap solo debut.

I hope that is the case. I had tickets to see them in Boston when they decided to cancel the tour. One of my favorite albums of last year.

I really liked Serj's album alot too.

/SOAD fan boy clearly.

If I were a Pumpkins fan, I would be really excited, he is supremely talented. He has the best fills of any rock drummer, hands down.

That said, that means the world is further away from a Reunited SOAD...damn

With John working with Billy, Shavo with RZA/GZA, Serj doing solo work, and Daron doing drugs, I dont see them getting back together any time soon.

Damn indeed.

Thank God that Scars on Broadway is on hiatus. That is the shiattiest band going right now and there are lots of contenders(looking at you Nickelback). That song "They Say" is the most godawful piece of shiat I have heard all year. I hope the singer ODs and takes his screechy voice straight to hell where it belongs.

Have you heard the album or are you basing this off of the one single they released?

I actually made the mistake of buying the record. I thought "Cool! A SOAD members side project, it can't possibly suck!"
That whole cd is terrible.

Well sorry then. I will agree the lyrics are weak but other than that it rocks IMHO. By the way dont go out and get Serj's solo album if you didnt like Scars.

Cheers.

For a second there, I though the headline said a drummer with Downs Syndrome was joining SP. That really would be an improvement!

Id pick it up if you are a System fan. Comparing Scars to Serj's album you can see why they split up. Serj is alot older than the other guys and wanted to do something else it seems. Interesting album. Hope you enjoy it. Cheers man.

Oh THIS so THIS. Daron singing is like nails screeching across the chalkboard. He seems to be one of those guys who as a kid had his parents tell him he had a great singing voice and like an idiot he believed it. Stupid ass wrecked SOAD with his annoying voice. Last 2 albums were the biggest pile of steaming crap they have ever squeezed out.

Serj's solo album should have been the next SOAD album instead of Hypnotize/Mesmerize

NeedlesslyCanadian [TotalFark] 2009-04-21 02:43:51 PM
And I'm the other way around. I thought Serj's album--besides being self-absorbed bullshiat--was just totally flat and uninteresting. Complete trash.

Scars' album on the other hand, I found to be one of the best albums of last year. Right up there with MGMT, NIN (Ghosts), Flight of the Conchords, Beck, Mogwai, and Miley. Naw, just seeing if anyone was still payiing attention.

Still a great album though.

Sadly this is often true, and certainly in the case of System of a Down.

And Danish_Viking88 pretty much nailed it also, Daron singing was the beginning of the end for them.

I didn't really like Scars at all, but Serj's solo album is great.

Ugh... Daron singing. Just please spare us all from that.

I mean seriously... Serj's got some seriously good pipes, just let him handle that part of it please.

You people have a very interesting idea of what good singing is. I can understand the argument that Daron has an annoying voice, but holding Serj up as an example of a good voice undercuts your authority.

I can understand not enjoying Daron but I never got the hate for Serj. Is his style unconventional? Sure but there arent many people who can do what he does. Well maybe people can but they dont.
