I'm not sure if that would be considered ironic, considering he's already demonstrated a propensity for being hit by these buses. That's probably more like "doing what you're good at".

He should've been using antiseptic.

What would be really ironic is if the same person that was driving the bus in September was also driving this bus.

Not ironic at all, but I'm guessing subby already knows this.

Yeah, I'm really not sure how I feel about this specific instance being called ironic. He was hit by a bus the first time and ended up in a wheelchair. Being hit again by a bus isn't something out of the ordinary or unexpected.

In other words, you wouldn't say, "Well, not that he's been hit by a bus and is in a wheelchair, he won't be hit by another bus." He very well could be going across the street and get hit by another bus. That's not ironic, that's just his destiny (queue lieutenant Dan).

If the same bus that put him in a wheelchair took him out of it, would that be ironic?

Well, the argument could be made that since he had previously survived being hit by a bus (a bus operated by the same company, no less), he has demonstrated a propensity for surviving being hit by a bus.

/ not really, but I'm in an argumentative mood today.

Only if here were a Safety Official who was late and rushing to a meeting where he was going to outline his plan to prevent pedestrian death by busses.

Came for the Dr. Romano references; was not disappointed.

Genetics query: if he fathered a child after the first bus, would that child now be better evolved to survive bus attacks? Or would the offspring be at greater risk, what with the family history of bus-related illness?

If you're about to get on a bus and the driver is an eskimo...just take the next bus.

Could her last name be pronounced as Irony?

The American Heritage Dictionary's usage panel found it unacceptable to use the word ironic to describe mere unfortunate coincidences or surprising disappointments that "suggest no particular lessons about human vanity or folly."

Take that subby!

/not a gramma nazi

See? This is why we need high speed trains so old outdated buses that pollute all over the place and run over crippled people can be stopped.
