You'd think they'd test the vaccine's efficacy before the story runs.

That was quick.

"Saeed says mouse and rabbit studies have succeeded, and he hopes human clinical trials can begin in late 2009."

Who knew that rabbits regularly had problems with Montezuma's Revenge?

I would suggest a test case:

Rush Limbaugh.

That's kind of a mixed bag for me. Next time I got pulled over for speeding I was planning on telling the cop I had the runs.

I like how they put that it kills 2 to 3 million children a year in the top of the article, and that it's mostly in sub-saharan africa and south america in the bottom.

Typical sensationalist garbage. I'm waiting for the farkers to post that "anti-vax nutjobs that won't give their kids this shot are playing with fate".

/clean running water, refrigeration, modern sewage systems, and acceptance of germ theory have done more to prevent disease than any vaccine.
//the US saw drops in diseases congruent with the progress of the REA
///sub-saharan africa is only 8% electrified

This shiat is significant.

This will definitely make a difference for life expectancy.
Get ready for a population explosion beyond current estimates...

Nice, great to hear that there is a vaccine for it. Wish they would've discovered this a couple years ago. I picked up a parasite from a water park and had the worst diarrhea of my life for a month straight....good times.

When your climbing up a tree and it's running down your knee
Diarrhoea, Diarrhoea
When your sitting in the gutter and your eating bread and butter
Diarrhoea, Diarrhoea
When your climbing in the loft and your tread in something soft
Diarrhoea, Diarrhoea
It isn't very fun, when you've got a runny bum
Diarrhoea, Diarrhoea

Couple that with some accordion music, and you've got yourself a shiat show.

You're right about the anti-vax nuts. Especially since the biggest one of them all helped found an anti-autism facility that is convinced that vaccines cause autism by messing with the intestines.

Imagine the head-spinning that'll be going on with a vaccine that targets the intestines!

sensationalist garbage? only if you are an idiot who didn't know that diarrhea kills kids mostly in 3rd world countries. Did you honestly think that diarrhea was that big of a problem in the western world? and i'm sure kids growing up in africa and south america would love running water, refrigeration, etc., but for now i think a pill will have to suffice if need be, yeah?

And so have vaccines. I have no knowledge about this vaccine, or how many lives it will help or hurt. But to suggest that vaccines have not had a significant effect on health is absurd. I'm only 19 years old, but to date, I have never contracted polio, measles, mumps, rubella, tetanus, diptheria, or hepatitis. Neither have any of my sisters, cousins, or any relatives under the age of 30, to the best of my knowledge. While clean water, sewage systems and the like have helped significantly, to suggest that cleanliness is solely or even mostly responsible for the significant lack of infection is absurd.

Diarrhea is one of those diseases that you don't care at all about until you've got it.
