It's not that ridiculous.

feckingmorons [TotalFark] 2009-04-19 12:56:34 PM
Why?

The virus is present in the breast milk of HIV positive women, there are countless studies about how to feed children of HIV positive women.

Makingn cheese from breast milk to serve as an artistic expression and how the HIV virus would respond to that has not been studied. Most probably because making cheese from breast milk is simply absurd.

Why?

Because it's human breast milk.

Who would WANT to make cheese from it, and where are you going to find providers?

What, are you one of those people who think humanity is separate from and somehow more significant than the rest of the animal kingdom?

thalassatx ... Who would WANT to make cheese from it, and where are you going to find providers?

Apparently the artist wanted to, and he found volunteers to provide milk. Any other questions?

necropoultryac 2009-04-19 01:12:55 PM
I would want to see pics of the donors before I ate any of it.

You can look at the pics, I'll do the hands-on inspection.

It would be entirely too sweet.

I got your pickle right here.

TheHighlandHowler [TotalFark] 2009-04-19 01:40:08 PM
Is the artist related to Borat?

Civil_War2_Time [TotalFark] 2009-04-19 01:44:26 PM
Breast milk stands would be so much easier than nacho stands at a sporting event. Couple suckles and a beer and you're set.

tbyte 2009-04-19 01:50:27 PM
Wow, most ridiculous greenlight in the history of the afternoon

Nogale 2009-04-19 01:50:41 PM
Wait a minute... I thought human milk lacked a certain protein required to turn it into cheese.

Although now that I think about it, I read that on Fark.

GungFu 2009-04-19 01:51:30 PM

HIV doesn't live that long outside the body. It's certainly not going to survive Pasteurization, or hang around for weeks / months inside cheese.

Gunderson 2009-04-19 01:51:50 PM
Breast milk cheese sounds alot better than frumunda cheese.

luckyeddie 2009-04-19 01:52:57 PM
It beats knob cheese

/so I'm told

You can milk anything with nipples.

FitzShivering 2009-04-19 01:53:36 PM
Have to side with all the "Why?" here.

Worst greenlight ever.

mrbach 2009-04-19 01:53:38 PM
Apparently refers to comments in this Fark thread.

EggSniper 2009-04-19 01:53:41 PM
What authority does the FDA have regarding human cheese?

T-Servo 2009-04-19 01:53:41 PM
I'm glad to read that the milk was donated.

Would have been more artistic if stolen, however.

Watchman [TotalFark] 2009-04-19 01:53:45 PM
Isn't all milk "breast milk"?

Mad Scientist 2009-04-19 01:53:46 PM
As a scientist who has researched the transmission of HIV via breast milk, I'm getting a kick...

/harder than you would think
//if the milk is cooked (they do that when making cheese, right?) then impossible

Yeah, pretty much this

Impudent Domain 2009-04-19 01:54:34 PM
I have seen far more ridiculous stuff on fark, and that was just in the last week.

Lizara 2009-04-19 01:54:39 PM
No... just no. You don't have to spend five minutes online to find plenty of more ridiculous reader comments than that one. Try youtube if you're really stuck.

tbyte 2009-04-19 01:55:56 PM
Watchman: Isn't all milk "breast milk"?

No, there is also cactus milk, milk of magnesia, milk from the store, etc.

illustri 2009-04-19 01:56:38 PM
i disagree that the comment is absurd, whether or not the woman from who the milk was collected had HIV (or any transmittible infectious disease) is pretty relevant

i don't know whats normal for you but i don't usually contact bodily fluids of another person who didn't at least buy me a drink

BorgHunter 2009-04-19 01:57:10 PM
EggSniper: What authority does the FDA have regarding human cheese?

In London, the location of this exhibit?

None at all.

Harvey Milk.

Would have been more artistic if stolen by Jasper Johns, however.

FTFY

I thought of doing this over 10 years ago. My friends told me I was crazy. Now I just know I should have been an art genius.

Control_this [TotalFark] 2009-04-19 01:58:55 PM
I guess I would try it. Where does human breast milk come from, anyway?

A bit dodgy, that!

EggSniper: What authority does the FDA have regarding human cheese?

Food and Drug Administration. Unless of course you think cheese isn't a food.

The Pinnipedia group (sea lions, walruses, etc) is the only order of mammals that produce milk without any lactose. So there.

Royale With Cheese 2009-04-19 02:00:40 PM
The "Cheese" in my handle is made of human breast milk.

We produce a smaller volume and most of us have better things to do than the constant milking required to keep us producing outside of the normal fertility cycle. So compared to cows or even goats? Yeah, we're pretty different on this issue.

Watchman [TotalFark] 2009-04-19 02:02:53 PM
T-Servo: The Pinnipedia group (sea lions, walruses, etc) is the only order of mammals that produce milk without any lactose.

Well I, for one, won't tolerate it!

So could lactose intolerant people drink walrus milk?

Great one subby. Headline is a self fulfilling prophecy. See comments in this thread.

I see what you did there.

Yes, because we can hold guns and kill the other animals, if they dont like it they should have evolved further.

Human FTW!

I'm disappointed in the pictorial evidence in this thread.

There's absolutely no whey I'd eat breast milk cheese.

What were the crackers made from?

Trickinosis 2009-04-19 02:05:36 PM
Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
