Kewpie dolls are creepy.

I inherited an old kewpie doll. I can't believe little girls actually used to play with those; they are pretty freaky looking little dolls. I keep mine locked in the closet so it can't run around the house while I'm asleep.

I pass by the one in Lansing all the time when I go to the gym, but have yet to actually go in there. It's right next to a Jimmy Johns, so that might be a factor.

Our local paper makes the Fark headlines again.
Rose O'Neill is a friend of mine's great/great? aunt I believe. He has a ton of Kewpie dolls, prints, books, etc. A few years ago he had some Kewpie serving trays made overseas. When they got stateside Customs held them for copyright violations. He asked customs who "owned" the Kewpie name. Apparently no one did and him & his sister were declared the two living heirs to the name. IIRC, Customs had to pay him a hefty sum for holding the goods without proper cause.
He always goes to the Bonniebrook shindig every year and wheels & deals with Kewpie people from all over the world.
