Yeah, subby, you're now Canadian -- if one of your ancestors was Canadian, then moved to a country where dual citizenship wasn't allowed.

My wife moved from Newfoundland to Minnesota in 1953 and became a U.S. citizen. So, she's now a Canadian again, as are all of our children. Our youngest daughter was recently turned-down for a work permit in Canada, and now she can work anywhere she wants to up there, as soon as the paperwork comes back. Pretty neat, Eh?

congratulations. as a new immigrant to canada you are entitled to one free car valued under 5000 dollars. also, for the next five years, you will not be required to pay taxes on any revenue you earn so that you may fund your terrorist activities more easily. and, if anyone should make a stink about why you and your dark, bearded, turban wearing friends have to run around with knives and grenades and automatic weapons even though no other canadians are allowed to carry them, just say its part of your religious practices and THEY'LL be the criminals!
welcome to canada!

Oh god, it's tards like you who make me embarrassed to share the same massive, sparsely populated country with you. Yes we might have some interesting celebrities (who moved to the U.S.). Morons like you cancel the value of them out.

This is actually controversial here in Canada.

While the Bill Addresses our "Lost Canadian" problem where some citizens suddenly had their citizenship removed because of a technical problem with our citizenship law, it also adds a new restriction that does not extend citizenship to children born to Canadian parents live and work outside of Canada unless they establish residency for the child in Canada.

While I see the value of the argument that right now, Citizenship is passed on indefinitely like genetic material and therefore we have no control over who acquires it, regardless of their alliegance to this country, given the global nature of todays work environment, it's conceivable that true Canadians who have paid taxes and are devoted citizens will end up in a weird situation where they have to pick between their career and their child's citizenship.

Personally I'm on the fence on this one.

They can't just head back to Canada for a couple weeks when it's time to have the kid? Seems like they would save money on medical expenses and get a chance to show the kid off to family at the same time.
