Leave it to a guy who works for FOX News to show disrepect by not wearing appropriate clothing to the White House. Not to mention a guy named "Major" who never served in the military.

If any reporter had done this 6 months ago the wingnuts would go full Wharrgggble.

/any reporter other than faux news .

Ah yes, Fox News, always respectful.

This guy is supposed to be a professional journalist ? Wow, even if you ignore the disrespect he has for his country (and at a time of war, no less) you have to wonder how he can justify the insult to his own audience.

Way to go Fox... way to go.

Unless it's what passes for biting satire from the right.

"Oh yeah? Well the President doesn't wear his jacket in the Oval Office! Ha! Suck on that!"

No, he works for Fox. I think the proper term is "disinfotainment technician."

Not that I really think this is any kind of a big deal, but I thought the WH press room would have a dress code.

Meh. It could have been worse:

fark, not even a polo shirt and jeans, for some semblance of remotely giving-a-shiat? That's... pathetic.

There goes the $10 I had on Ana Marie Cox being the first to show up pantsless to a White House press briefing.

Dammit!!

B-b-but Obama doesn't have the respect to wear a tie in the Oval Office!

Well, his real last name is Azzole, so I guess it works.

No, Just lay of the "ZOMFG dizrespeckt for the sancktitty of the whitehouse" when you vehimately defend a guy getting blown in the Oval Office. Sure, you wish it was you doing the blowing, but hey, don't ask....Don't tell!

mike965 2009-04-19 02:13:30 AM
At least he got called out on it, I'd feel pretty stupid if I was there and got called as the guy in his underwear but then again I'd feel stupid enough just being a Fox news disinfotainment technician

The Onanist [TotalFark] 2009-04-19 02:14:52 AM
To be fair, he had to be at the gym in 26 minutes.

Presenting the most obvious semblance of not even remotely giving a shiat - of ostentatious, theatrical disrespect - was the entire point.

Gosh, I'm impressed, FoxNews.

Who said shiat about sanctity? I'm talking about the barest semblance of professionalism. It's not even about respect towards the office, the venue, any of that. It's about having any sort of pride in your work or respect for your colleagues.

Hell, I don't cover the White House (or any big-wigs; not my field), but I've been to plenty of press events, and you can always tell the green bloggers, the hobbyist nerds who got press credentials for some small site and go to these things dressed like complete slops. It's like saying you don't give a shiat about what you're doing.

I don't dress up in a suit or tie for most things, but a t-shirt and gym shorts? That's professionally disgraceful.

Bloody William 2009-04-19 03:05:00 AM

Depends how loose the gym shorts were.

You know there's something to be said for innuendo. That thing is that it doesn't involve descriptions of ugly reporters preforming the action.

You shouldn't wear sunglasses to a press conference either. Or a fanny pack.

Nah, I hope Obama personally lets him have it. If you call on him, just keep on saying, "Major, I'm glad you decided to dress up like the rest of us." At some point, he'll stop raising his hand and everybody wins.

At some point there has to be a minimum level of decorum expected for a white house press conference, Democrat or Republican. Showing blatant disrespect shouldn't be encouraged by continued access.

I agree it would be funny to see this idiot constantly ribbed but they should just be adults about it. If the guy is going to intentionally do something like that, in the white house, then fox news should have to send someone else over after this guy loses his access rights. If Fox news consistently does things like this then fox news shouldn't be granted press access to white house functions or conferences.

He showed up in his underwear because he left them with the woman he is having an affair with in the jefferson room.

Too bad you can't cite a news correspondent for contempt like a judge would if an attorney or defendant showed up for court in their underwear.

Unless it was Michael Jackson, I guess.

You have to pick your battles sometimes. I'm not a fan when people troll all the time, but I'm also not going to be TOO much of a dick when they aren't trolling.
