There's a reason the Police are stunned with tazers before they are issued them. All they do is show the video of them getting tazed and how harmless it is and they're free.

Also, he probably died of drug overdose if he wasn't affected by the taser.

The burning sensation from pepper spray lasts for 30 mins or more. It causes the recipient to leak snot everywhere, and contaminate anything they touch with spray residue.

A taser stun lasts 5 seconds, and when it is over, its over. I'd take a ride on the taser any day over getting sprayed.

Tasers store usage data, so while the number of times the guy was tased might not have made it into the police report, the data is sitting in the device or PD's computer waiting to be subpoenaed if necessary.

Funny I've been lead to believe tasers were to be used as a non lethal alternative. The alternative being shooting someone with a gun, when faced w/ a shoot or be shot situation. Seems to me some naked drunk, brandishing a toilet seat is more of a pain in the ass scenario where the officers wouldn't want to get their hands dirty. Reality is, gone are the days when cops have to deal with accusations of brutality after beating a suspect. Its just less messy to tase someone, hope they don't die and defend the practice by repeatidly assuring us tasers are non lethal.

I think we need to just forget the tasers and go back to the old school method of bringing down a suspect - a baton beatdown, or if that doesn't work, just shoot them.

Oh my God! Snot and stuff!!! It's totally impossible to clean up! There's no way in the world a person can step backwards and avoid a person leaking snot!

The safest way for an officer to subdue a suspect is by putting a few rounds in their chest. A taser is obviously a much better choice in almost all situations. The downside is that a few people are going to die from it. That's a lot better than just shooting everybody, isn't it? I know, being that this is Fark, the cops should face off with the suspect armed with the same level of force they are up against.
