Can someone please explain to me why people enjoy whiskey? I'm a beer snob, so I can appreciate the fact it has some allure, like a Belgian Tripple, but it tastes like shiat to me.

I can see that you have the taste buds of a dead yak. Unless the monks have taken a vow of silence, the whiskey might as well have been wrung out of a moldy bar rag.

Question: if whiskey were music, would it be emo or elevator?

Having started drinking whiskey when I could (legally) start drinking, I think this a load of bullsh*t.

I'm also getting a kick out of these replies!

I've heard this logic from PBR drinkers too: it's supposed to taste like shiat.

Urm, no, it's not. Good beer tastes good. Good tequila tastes good. Good wine tastes good. "Good" whiskey tastes like skunky firewater. Whiskey is the drink of choice for pretentious dipshiats or unrepentant alkys.

Fantastic stuff. Anyone who says rum is for mixing only has never had this. Pricey though, if you're on a budget try Flor De Caña Grand Reserve.

Huh. So I guess that argument that all women are really men on Fark is true, then.

I love a good whiskey, and the older I'm getting the more I'm noticing the subtleties and such. Having a friend who decided to buy one bottle of something really good a month to fully appreciate what he was drinking when he drank helps.

I'm pretty sure that's vodak. Cherry kool-aid tastes good the first time you drink it. It's gotta suck the first time or it ain't worth getting in the club. It's like hazing for your taste buds.

Yes, because we old farks who are losing our sense of smell and taste most certainly have the goods on 25 year olds. Or it could be a brain tumor. 50/50

Christ, they are crappy PBR drinkers then.

PBR was the keg beer of choice for us in college 'cause of all the cheap beer, it was the best we could do. And we were broke.

If we had money, you can damn well be sure we were getting a 6 pack of Bell's or Great Lakes Brewing. But when you're broke, PBR isn't a bad choice.

Though nowadays I'm more of a Stroh's fan when I want a beer but don't want to drop over $10 on a 6 pack.

I came in here to say that. Whisky is from Scotland, Whiskey is Irish.

I enjoy them both, and tequila, and gin and the occasional vodka and rum, and rye, and blended whiskey, and beer, and wine, and aquavit, and upon occasion aqua velva.

I think I shall now go out drinking.

I enjoy all of the above except rum. I could never really get into it.

However, there's a chance I'll be visiting family in Jamaica next Christmas. I'll wait until then to give it another shot.
