HAH! I knew it was the Polysics from the headline... this is a bit old, but DAMN if it isn't entertaining!

I'm going to go ahead and assume they've been to their fair share of Man or Astro-man? shows as well.

Maybe some Servotron.

Wait. Stop. Do not enter.

(I did enjoy the video, though - thanks, subs!)

Love me some POLYSICS!

Saw them live here in San Diego not too long ago.

That's great! Just downloaded more of their stuff. Exiting.

Seen Polysics as many times as possible since I found out about them (twice on the east coast). Their live show is AMAZING because their frontman is so farking energetic, offset by the keyboardist's Kraftwerk schtick, combined with the fact that their songs are already bombastic little nutshells of Japanese caffeine.

/couldn't pick just one track, and neither could this person

My Shalona?

saintwrathchild 2009-04-19 12:30:58 AM
Actually, their first major (comparatively) stateside release, Polysics or Die!!!! Vista, is an excellent greatest hits collection and a recommended starting point.

You can buy a Marshall amp and halfstack, but you can't buy the ability to hit a clean chord. You have to practice and earn that.

Yay Polysics love!

I've seen them twice at Countdown Japan; before their set there's always a legion of fans who come wearing similar-styled jumpsuits. Mostly orange but some "unique" people who wanna wear red or blue here and there. Dozens if not hundreds of them, I can only imagine what their tour shows are like.

PickinWhiskers 2009-04-19 02:13:52 AM
That was surprisingly good.

They are no Loudness, but well done. "Rock and Roll Crazy nights!"

The two shows I saw here in the southeast weren't well-received. Both were MySpace Music tours, about a year apart, and the first they were the opening act for a bunch of shiatty emo-pop bands Hipsters in scarves with pointy hair everywhere, it was a horrible crowd. The second time, they were the headliners, but they got stuck in this shiathole of a venue following a bunch of shiatty emo-pop bands. The first show was packed, several hundred people, but out of that maybe twenty of us were enjoying ourselves. The second, there were only twenty people, but they still played the hell out of their set for us, and the whole crowd was into it. I really doubt they're going to come to my side of the country again any time soon, sucks.

That's a shame. If you ever make the trip out here drop me a line and I'll help you get tickets or something, you deserve to see them w/ a crowd of a couple thousand going apeshiat crazy.

same here in San Diego!

Saw them live here in probably the best venue ever, a little bar called the Casbah, and they rocked! small place, loud music, what's not to love! They played on a not weekend night, or the crowd would have been bigger. Still, they rocked the house!

on another note (ha) I think I'm in love with the girl that plays the bass guitar... Ohhh..

I'll be in my bunk.

Lt_Aurum: We're not a punk rock band, we're a new age band!

Might be wrong, but I'm fairly certain Jello says that they are a "new wave" band.

That is a very unique rendition of My Sharona. I kept thinking of the Cheech & Chong version though.

Well subby, you just sold another Polysics album.

Thanks for introducing me to some music I never would've heard otherwise!

great find subby! thanks for giving me inspiration, on what to listen to on my drive tonight.

i have said it before, and i will say it again. i can die a happy man, if devo brings the polysics along for the inevitable tour that will follow the newest release from the spud boys later this year.

I did not see that one coming.

Would that ever work, if a band kind-of was similar to the other, and actually had some of the other band's songs in their repertoire? The overlap and comparison might make it a less-entertaining concert than if you just went to each one seperately (?)

CaptainFatass 2009-04-19 09:05:21 PM
Badass. Reminds me of ex-Girl's reinvention of M's "Pop Musik," only a more radical departure from the original.

Remember back in the 80's when everyone was worried that the Japanese were going to take over the world?

It stuff like this that makes me wish they did.
