funny when it was the peace activists you never said a word Mr. Steele. matter of fact you and the rest of the party scoffed and called them paranoid. but now it's all so different isn't it?

Yep, we should get rid of that whole DHS. Who's the commie, liberal who set that department up?

Ahhh_Ennui: He is such an idiot. How did he get to be the chair?

Because he's black.

Seriously.

This is the same group of people who tried to pander to Hillary's supporters by putting a woman (Palin) on the ticket, figuring that since they voted for Hillary because she's a woman, they'd vote for ANY woman (even if their woman is the political polar opposite of Hillary).

Now, their train of thought is that the black Democratic voters voted for Obama because he's black (and for no other reason); ergo, if they have their own black guy, they can Steele (bad pun,I know) these votes away from the Democrats because "those people" will vote for any black guy just because he's black.

/hey, it worked for Alan Keyes when he ran for the US Senate against Obama... oh, wait.
//It's why Keyes got such a huge portion of the black vote in the 2008 Presidential election... oh, wait.

Wow. So the Republican party will only be worthy of your support if it sticks to white guys, huh?

Fascinating stuff. Tell me more.

Previous Republican adminstrations were on record as having closely watched anti-war groups in opposition to the Iraq situation so it stands to reason that government agencies would continue to monitor other anti-government groups under the Obama administration.

Sorry guys, but you didn't say much when the fed was watching YOUR enemies. now that they're watching YOU folks, maybe you'll appreciate why the rest of us expressed concern way back then.

I've got nothing against the idea of Republicans putting women or blacks on the ticket. My problem is them expecting their black or female candidates to win by virtue of them being black or female. If they run a competent politician, they'd get my support, if not my vote.

Olympia Snowe, for example, is not the kind of woman who would say "I'm a woman, vote for me!" or "I'm black, vote for me!" in her campaigns (the former being a part of the reason, but not the only reason, why Hillary lost the primaries; the latter, a tactic that Obama did NOT use during his campaign). She might stand a chance against Obama in 2012. Sadly, she isn't far enough to the right to stand a chance of being on the Republican ticket - there's too much support for the Palins and the Jindals and the Perrys of the party for the Snowes or the Crists to stand a chance, defection to third parties notwithstanding.

Well, that and this particular DHS report was ordered by President Bush. It was just now was finalized.

There was also a section in the report on left-wing extremists. Funny, you don't see mainstream enivornmentalist Democrats biatching about DHS considering eco-terrorists like the Earth & Animal Liberation Fronts a threat.

The eco-nuts haven't killed anyone yet (they just cause a lot of expensive property damage). The pro-life crowd, ironically enough, actually *has* killed a few people in the past. so it's understandable that federal law enforcement might want to keep an eye on them. so if the argument is that the pro-life crowd is higher on the priority watch list than the eco-nuts, then I concede the point as being entirely valid. The pro-lifers are just going to have to deal with that fact life life.

Obama's DHS report says to watch for returning military veterans because they're disgruntled and could go terrorist.

Saying that returning military veterans are a danger to homeland security is like spitting on troops as they return home from combat. Leftists have a history doing things like that. At least it's not real spit this time.

heh I wonder if you will be still frothing at the mouth when you find out Bush actually had the same report about right wing douchbaggery, but like I have said before, it isn't rocket science to see white folks prancing around in pajamas looking for a target in the forests. It happened during the Clinton administration so why the surprise that militias would creep up under Obama?

Wrong.

"(U//FOUO) DHS/I&A assesses that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat. These skills and knowledge have the potential to boost the capabilities of extremists-including lone wolves or small terrorist cells-to carry out violence. The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today."

Either you can't tell the difference between these, or you're a liar. I'm guessing a little bit of both.

As long as we continue to allow the idiots on both sides the most air time as possible this will never happen. The Republicans are no longer trying to win elections. They're trying to start all out civil war. Listen to them talk. If more and more people become unemployed and watch Fox News all day, we're going to have a serious problem on our hands. If you have Republican friends you know what I'm talking about. They're getting ready to explode. They think violence against the state is OK right now since the state is "oppressive." We're at a scary point right now. I'd say we're at Yugoslavia circa 1988.
