They are almost on the verge of admitting that representation only counts when their rep is Republican. Makes you wonder why we have elections at all. Why not just appoint a Republican and Democrat from each state?

it's tyranny I tell ya. Obama expects us to go back to the Pre Bush tax tables. That's pure socialism right there. And don't even get me started on Comrade Reagan.Or Emperor Eisenhower.

Because circumventing an electoral system without the electorate rebelling requires two things: the deck completely stacked in your favor, and the illusion of choice. Ask yourself, when was the last time you saw someone really concerned by the fact that the parties essentially dictate who's on the ballot?

At least when the left-leaning attention whores protested Bush they had a message: "Lets not bomb Iraq for something they didn't do."

Granted, you have all the Che assholes and '9/11 was in inside job' idiots show up, but at least the whole thing has a purpose.

The purpose of this was butthurt, pure and simple.

To recap, the major protests of the Bush admin, in order, were as follows:

- my votes weren't counted and I hate you
- don't invade Iraq and I hate you
- you invaded Iraq and I hate you
- you're torturing people and I hate you
- you'll never go to jail and I hate you

And this was after 8 years.

So far, now that Obama is President, what we get from the Right (note, THE RIGHT, not the far Right) is...

- you lowered my taxes and I hate you

Makes perfect sense.

It's going to be a tiresome four-to-eight years.

I quit watching the Daily Show after Jon Stewart, the writers, and the whole Daily show just got down on their knees and started suking Obama's **** each and every episode. At least in the the old days they would tear Bush AND the stupid Democrats and Republicans equally the whole show. Watching theDaily Show is like watching a TV version of Rush Limbaugh - just a one-sided, partisan commercial that just supports their "guy" and the "other side" is always wrong...how stupid...

The first statement refutes the validity of the second. You can't know their content if you yourself admit that you don't watch it.

Stewart's fired a few broadsides at Obama. Nothing Hannityesque, but obvious ribbing. Remember the Special Olympics quip? You think a comedian's going to let that one slide?

My favorite part was the lady who said, "This happened literally overnight! It's been building for years!" I'm soooooo happy John Oliver pointed out that those statements are mutually exclusive.

Logic is not her strong suit. It's truthiness in action; both statements sound good and feel right, so she's happy to spout them without giving thought to what she's actually saying.

Mentat [TotalFark] 2009-04-18 12:42:40 AM
Someone pointed out something interesting the other day. If they wanted a more accurate historical precedent, they should have gone with the Whiskey Rebellion.

That's when I got to use my line, "The Boston Tea party was about throwing the Crown's money into the harbor, this Tea Party is about throwing your own money in the harbor". Even the Republicans in the room laughed at that.

These are people who can call Obama a commie fascist, and not get why they look stupid doing it.

If these people really gave a crap about the government spending money it didn't have, they'd have been protesting the billions we've spent invading and then rebuilding Iraq and Afghanistan. Not worrying about whether the government wants to fix a few bridges, re-pave a few highways, and generally improve our goddamn infrastructure. Something that, in the long run, does a lot more good than either invasion ever did.

Gordon Brown, Prime Minister to Obama:

I want to thank you for your leadership, your vision and your courage. Which you have already shown with your Presidency. And congratulate you on your dynamism, energy and indeed the achievements you have been responsible for your first 70 days in office have changed America and you've changed America's relationship with the world."

Limbaugh said on his radio show that Gordon Brown may suffer from "anal poisoning" after Brown complimented Barack Obama for being successful as the President of the United States.

This guy is just amazing...

Yes, but see... the 9/11 insider douches were a very small minority and the rest of us on the left denounced them.

When dickbags like Rick Perry say, for instance, that Texas should secede or when Rick Santelli says they should protect with lunatic protests... the republicans all go nuts and start chanting Tyranny and want to secede.

It's astounding. The far-right is sadly becoming the mainstream for the republicans. Hopefully the 'mainstream' republicans will only be 20 or 30% and it'll guaruntee a democratic majority (or better yet a 3rd party) for many years until they get their shiat together.

Late to the thread, but how is it that hard to kill 3 x 10 e 7 Indians. The technology already exists. Half the launch capacity of a single Trident class SSBN, bracketed around any major Indian city would seal the deal in about an hour and it's already paid for.

'Course , the hard part, as always, is justifing it.

If they really cared about government waste, they would have started protesting many years ago.

If they really cared about avoiding higher taxes, they would have been venting their anger at people like Ahrnold who is raising California's income tax by .25% for everyone and not people like Obama who is lowering income tax for 95% of people.

I was in chicago yesterday and observed the 'tea protest' first hand. The protest was basically every right wing talking point. Anti-abortion, anti-socialism*, anti-obama, anti-acorn, for-palpatine (real sign - have no clue), anti-tax, anti-democrats, etc etc ... There was a few 9/11 truthers thrown in for good measure.

If the 'protesters' really cared about government waste where were they for the last 8 years? They are just pissed their guy lost.

*if you asked any of them - they could not define what socialism really means

Yeah, but the Brits did it as craftsmen with the personal touch. Nuking a city is like choosing Budweiser over a good microbrew.

As John Oliver pointed out, the British killed 30 million Indians before any of that was invented. In his own words: "We pretty much had to do it one at a time."

While the income tax may have dropped or be dropping, we've already seen a huge jump in cigarette taxes, and we could see (very likely) new taxes that while aimed at corporations and non-corporate businesses, that will trickle down to having everyone pay them. Plus there was mention (again) of taxing internet shopping, plus all the different ways your cities and states tax you.

Obama's tax plan is not in effect. Not a single person at that rally paid a tax that was in place after Jan 2009. No one was forced to change their life because Obama taxed them more.

Obama being elected had nothing to do with the taxes you paid on or before April 15, 2009.

Precisely. Any schmuck can program a CNC machine to shiat out an armoire, it takes a master to build one by hand that is both functional and a work of art. The British showed painstaking care by killing 30mil using bullets and bayonets. Precision, a lost art.

Your post clearly explains why the tea baggers should have been directing their outrage to their STATE government, not Obama.

It's the states that want raise cigarette taxes, it's the states that want to tax internet shopping.
