Are you telling me that a town notorious for garish crap, ridiculously fake DDs attached to cocaine hips, irritating old people, and miles of beach with nary a thread of it public is now demonstrating a modicum of taste?

More likely is that some old fart called in and complained.

Well, if Fall Out Boy would convert to judaism, maybe Boca Raton would like them more.

Does anyone really need a reason beyond "They're Fallout Boy" to ban them?

not saying it's a good reason, but they certainly cite one

Boca Raton lost all it's relevance to me when Tom's Barbecue moved out (and subsequently closed) a couple of years ago.

/Boca Raton means rat's mouth or some shiat like that.

Doesn't that accurately reflect the group's standing in the realm of good taste?

I'm sorry if my post read so bitter. A town is what you make of it. Do some honest research and make a choice. I know that's not very helpful, but neither is more ranting on my part.

Bon Jovi wanted to play a benefit for several volunteer agencies in a small town in New Jersey. The mayor has a hissy fit and wouldn't allow it. He only served one term.

I actually just moved here from central Ohio. Might as well be a different planet. A ridiculously overpriced, over tanned, over populated planet of folks from the northeast.

you forgot a ton of rich people with their offspring running wild and the lowly idiots who serve them or scam them. the women are hot if you can get them drunk enough to forget that their allowance is more than you make a year.

awesome! And I'm not saying that because it involves Bon Jovi. It could be any band, but when you throw a fit over a benefit concert for volunteer agencies, you don't deserve public office.

I lived there for about a year, on the FAU campus.
It's close to cities that are fun. That's all I can really say about that.

This was my thought as well. Having worked there for 4 years, I can say that this may be the single most humanitarian thing Boca has ever done.

Bravo, Boca!

All true. The hispanic women are amazing though. And some of the beaches are nice. It is hard to find a real cup of coffee or a good beer. There aren't really any "neighborhoods." I think the concept of a neighborhood is somehow kind of down-market. Traffic is completely stupid. Publix grocery stores suck. So, you can shop at whole foods if you have any money left over. I dunno, ask me again in 6 months if I'm not back in Columbus by then.

Actually, most people I work with in Boca don't actually live here. Some live down in Coral Springs or Lauderdale. Most live up in Boynton, Lake Worth, or Palm Beach. I will probably move to Delray or Boynton after I spend a year here, figuring out the lay of things and where I want to be. I'm spending mortgage money on villa lease while I figure it out.

I live close to Boca Raton.

And I will personally testify that every single derogatory thing said about the town so far is completely true.

TheSilverOne: The tastes of many of the spoiled rich brats who live (i.e. use mommy and daddy's credit card) in Boca do not extend past bands of anorexic teenage boys in their girlfriend's jeans.

With 186 weekly Alcoholics Anonymous meetings to choose from, not to mention more than 40 residential rehab clinics and even its own sober baseball team, Florida's Boca Raton is the recovery capital of America.

Wow, now if they would ban Britney Spears, The Jonas Bros. and Miley Cyrus, then the "Hero" tag would be necessary.

It's also the Spam capital of the world.

I know I bashed the city earlier up this thread, but as tacky as the city is, it has a certain feel to it.
Not all cities have a personality, but Boca most certainly does...even though it is an obnoxious one.

i lived there during the dot.com craze, where it was a pretty decent hub for techy stuff.

But to quote a line from Goodfellas, "its like you died and went to Jew heaven".

I was like 26... Too old for the Florida Atlantic crowd, and too young for the geriatrics. So... i didn't quite fit in.

it actually means thieves inlet. true translation is rats mouth but it stands for thieves inlet.

i've seen other concerts at mizner (and run into jason bonham every time i am there for some reason).

i can't say i know anything about fall out boy (maybe because i have a lawn that i request people leave) or why they would not be allowed to play.

maybe ruby tuesdays and trulucks don't want a bunch of teeny boppers or some crap like that running around.

hispanic women are amazing as long as they dont rob or stab you. even with all the bad that is south florida, it's still a fun and interesting to put it mildly place to live.
