It's looking more and more like that each and every day.

I don't honestly think it's racism. It's not that there's a black man in the White House. It's that it's not their black man in the White House.

It's all about sour grapes.

I think it's a good bit of both.

That's nice. Wake me when a credible conservative calls out the 'teabagging' for what it is. Everyone expects Garafolo (sp) to fall to one side. It'd be refreshing to hear a smart Republican publicly ask, "WTF?"

While i tend to think she's a farking nutter, she's right here.

A sizable portion of the crowd I saw in NYC was angry because Obama is not white and they don't think he's christian.

Some are there because of their disdain for current economic policies. But most are there because "waaaaah we lost" and a LOT of them are only mad enough to protest because of what they see Obama as, not because of who he is.

Do they have a black man? A real one, not a token one?

I say they but i'm not on the other side, or their side, i'm on my side, of the pond.

That was bad, but on the next segment, Olbermann had this spokesperson for the DNC on to respond to the tea parties:

So now the racism card is in play anytime somebody disagrees with policy.

You've played your trump. That's it, there is nothing left after labeling opposition as outright racism. Way to go there, Hollywood lady.

bingo.

It's time for Republicans (and of course, Independents) to get even for the way Bush was treated (for no reason at all). I hope they can keep it up for the next 4 years and that the United States becomes a forgotten concept. I also hope we make no progress at fixing any of the problems we face right now, because team is way more important than country.

Get even with the lefties, guys. It's your duty to your team. Don't ever cooperate and don't stop getting even. You are justified and you are right.

what Olbermann and Garofalo engaged in Thursday evening is amongst the most vile, hate-filled attacks on average American citizens ever conveyed on national television by so-called journalists.

yeah, it's completely the opposite of what hannity, bill-o, rush, beck, savage et al do on a daily basis.

Wow, even among the quasi-racist people I know, I've never so much as heard one negative comment about Obama's race. It's all about the politics and policies.

I'm sure it exists, but it exists ten-fold more in the minds of the people trying to explain the criticism.

Normally I would be inclined to agree with you, and like many I believe that race is most definitely a boy-cry-wolf phenomenon.

However, as the weeks drag on I am beginning to see very thinly veiled racism across this nation, towards its leader. I simply see no other valid reason for the extreme levels of misinformation and the proliferation of those who proffer it. As I mentioned in another thread, Obama can act on his apparent commitment to the 2nd Amendment, but it will only result in more gun sales each time his face appear on a TV. His overall tax plan will not result in hikes for the vast majority of the people protesting...'tax hikes'...who were conspicuously silent during the hulking expense of the war in Iraq, eroding rights in the guise of 'freedom,' and, of course, Big Government bail-outs. Also, there is this obsession with his religion, which in many eyes is literally a black/brown/white issue. Put simply, I have never seen half a nation so blatantly revolted by a leader, particularly so early in tenure. While I can't prove it, I have to admit the very real possibility of straight-up racism as a culprit.

There are precious few other explanations for the extreme levels of irrationality we've seen.

It is different because Hannity and the others do what they do out of love for their country. Unlike the left who are simply irrational animals who attack because they are selfish and greedy.

I could not possibly agree with this more.

My right wing friends keep telling me that these teabagging parties are all about taxes, bailouts and gov't spending. If this is true, why do I always see anti-Obama signs when I see pictures of these events?

Tea Parties are nothing more than thinly veiled right wing backlash at losing the election. What I find funny is that as long as it was the Republicans pissing away our money, no protests were needed. Now that the Republicans don't have power it's ZOMG I'M OUTRAGED AT GOVERNMENT SPENDING.

Speaking of teh funnay the people carrying signs with Ayn Rand references crack me up. I doubt more than a fraction of the people carrying the signs even knew who Rand was before they started carrying it. I'd love to quiz one of these morons about Rand's books, philosophies and objectivism. I'm sure I'd get blank stares and whargarbbll.

If Patricia Heaton made some disparaging comment about Obama, I wouldn't care either. Just because she's allegedly famous, doesnt mean her opinion counts more than anyone elses.

In all seriousness, her two best performances in her career was the waitress she played in "The Cable Guy" and when she played herself on the Sopranos. How sad is that?

i watched this segment. it seemed to me like she was using hyperbole as a comedic device. at first i wasn't sure, but as the segment went on, she kept getting more and more outlandish in her claims.

i mean, she compared them to frankenstein's monster seeing fire. and was discussing their brain physiology. and kept falling back on prior points like explaining things with stockholm syndrome. and commented there were "tens of people" that showed up. these are all absurd statements... you know, jokes.

plus, whether or not you like her work, she is actually a comedian.

but whatever, get worked up over it, i'm sure she cares what newsbusters thinks.
